i have the heavy duty fail safe BA 180* on mine. works awesome. might consider cutting off the jiggle valve and drilling out the hole a little larger as well.
i couldn't tell you how many different brands, types, and temps i've tried. on my car i like this one the best.
that looks like one of the canadian manifolds. forget the name of the guy that built them, he does a lot of 1j stuff.
anyway, here is a pic of mine, if it helps at all.
buddy bought the manifold for a 2j (the chinese) and cut off the collector section. another buddy water jet cut a 7m flange and from there welded up piping to fit it together. you aren't going to find an off the shelf manifold to fit a gt42 on a 7m. i can help you source the pieces to build...
i wont be coming to group lunch or caravan. mom lives like 5min from the track so we were going down friday night.
i think i still have that guy's card somewhere. if you need it fuzz i'll see if i can find it.
damn had no idea there was a dyno in shelbyville. sounds like it may be my new dyno!
i think i know about where it is, but shelbyville has 1000 names for the same road depending on where you are.
they are speaking about nhra requirements. the cage in my car that runs 10's isn't certified to run the 8.20's that my friend's car does. completely different requirements and a lot more bars.
what? ive never ran more than 46psi and no leaner than 13.8:1 under full boost.
seriously tho, the turbo has ~5k on it. ran 10psi (long story) except one time i ran 21psi (another long story). really didnt even get into boost much when driving due to trans issues. it was tuned for 11.2:1...
i had no idea they were crappy gaskets. i should have known by looking at it. the head side is the same design, and it is starting to come apart too. i'm changing that as well. never took a straight edge to check flatness, altho it didnt leak. no, both sides arent divided, which is another...
funny thing is, i had no idea until i pulled it apart that it was damaged. no signs at all. needless to say, i'm upgrading to a nicer gasket. i just used the gasket kit that came with it.
no, that is not crack rock. yes, the gasket was 1 piece.
thru the dash is def nice. i'm not fast enough to require that yet. just an 8pt works fine, and the 12pt could be added later. in fact, the OP might be able to use a 6pt and be ok.
screw padding. wrapped in razor wire is where it's at. gives that industrial i mean business look...
i didnt mean to make such a fuss.
regardless of what material is used, it has to be properly designed, installed, and welded. i've seen so many poorly put together cages (not that i am an expert inspector) that i wouldnt trust in a crash.
if money isnt a concern, i would def suggest going chromoly. its twice the price but atleast 1/2 the weight.
also i've never seen any of the bought cages that didnt have to be tweaked and notched, but easier than a full custom cage. not a lot of people around that know how to build a...
whats your idea of laggy? everyone has a different idea. i was happy my turbo had full spool at 4200. someone rode in my car and said "your car goes from yawn to holy shit mid 4's, but no way i'd want something so damn laggy"
you might talk to x-man, i believe he was looking at this turbo...
