I'd take it between 2/3 and use Teflon Braided with Firesleeve over the top.

ya that what i think i have to do i just cant seem to get it the without putting a 90 degree bend. would it be bad to put a 90 right off the turbo?

I come from a land down under
On my 7M I clocked the turbo towards the shock tower and looped the drain back down to the Group A pan, there was no way known it was ever going to line up with the Block drain.

Personally I wouldn't use a 90 in a drain but looking at your header you should be able to clock the bottom of the turbo towards the head so you get a fairly straight shot down with at worst a 45 into the block.

i will give it a try i just ordered a few 90 and 45 degree fittings and im going to keep playing around untill i get it.

how many degrees do you think the return can be clocked from straight down

Had mine close to 45 degrees, the 3540 is a BB turbo so has 1mm restrictors in the Oil feed.

This means there isn't a lot of Oil flow through the turbo so the drain is less critical than a Journal bearing turbo but still needs to be downhill and unrestricted as possible.

that looks like one of the canadian manifolds. forget the name of the guy that built them, he does a lot of 1j stuff.

anyway, here is a pic of mine, if it helps at all.
