if you can get the 2jz for cheap go for it but be prepared for some wiring to say the least. the 1j is nice and since its already turbo makes a difference as with the 2jzNA you were looking at doesnt have the oil squirters and other parts that help with FI later down the road that you will need...
yes you can powder coat the rim. the center section is plastic and might be an issue with the metal tensioner thats in the center \(might not fit correctly after the powdercoat if it was done) many guys just paint them. as for the cost ive seen sets go from 150-400 depending on condition...
Ron built the whole thing as a special 1 time oly deal with Satan. The pulleys alone were a real pain apperently and he says hes not going to do it again.
Well after getting my Ron R mani from Satan (Elvis) yesterday I put some elbow grease into it to make it all nice and shiny :)

you guys might also want to see that the drop down bracket for the alt isnt cheap and is included in the price for rons manis. add to that that these are top quality and the cost of the materials isnt cheap. ask supraguy88t who made his own.

the supra is actually very well balanced front to rear at 51/49. move the battery to the rear and then its extremely close to 50/50.
the power seats are extremely heavy as are the doors. start small (plywood in the trunk) and go from there.
this is a terrible idea. a smaller muffler? thats like saying "oh i have a gash in my leg, lets cut it off" and would completely defeat the purpose of the ddp as youd just be adding a restriction further downstream.
