It wasn't really sweet whe nI smelled it, not sweet in the sense anwyay. It's not cgona smell like candy is what I mean :P It spells like something wierd, you'll know it's not oil, and not gas, so it just this "other" thing. Is it just on startup?

Hahaha yeah, we already enjoyed our turkey diner and boy was it good! Nothing nicer than a big family turkey diner. Except maybe a big ham diner at easter, those rock my socks

Wow I left for thanksgiving weekend and come back to a 10 page thread about IJ leaving the forum. Yeah everyone just relax. I doubt he'll just up and go, this is basically his forum anyway :P

I take it you mean main caps? You get main cap studs, they come with 2 bolts to replace the studs that go under the oil pump since otherweise there isn't enough clearance. For rods you get only bolts, no rod studs. Yet ;)

My local machine shop said they couldn't blast my covers. They said the beads might get stuck in the baffles, I was like "fine you just lost $30!"

simple.
1. pipe is set into a bending jig
2. they insert something into the pipe, someone will say what this is I forget what it's called. It stops the pipe from rippling when they bend it by keeping pressure on the pipe walls.
3. then the hydraulic rod pushes the die and the pipe bends. You can...
If it was good enough for toyota racing then it's good enough for me! I love their style of pipework tho. I prefer it; cut, cut, weld, cut, weld, cut cut weld. I prefer that over smooth bends. The cut way looks so cool!

I did the wire wheel too. I used a drill attachment wire wheel and drilled away at them. Got down to the metal. Sprayed with gloss black engine enamel and then taped off the lines and painted them colourchanging from gold to pink. Looked killer.

This is shot peening:

Basically to remove stress. I am glad you're going with a less involved build superdupra since if I was to do it over again I would also. It's cool to say yeah i have JEW pistons, eagle rods, fully built head blah blah, but it's...
It's way more fun doing it yourself ;) I did, and saved about $600 in the process. I'm with all these guys tho. DO a stock build, when you eventually blow that up then go forged, by that time you'll be needing it more cause you blew up this one :biglaugh:
It'll be way lighter on the wallet for...
Excellent project car by the looks of it. Trully a nice find. Since it was auto NA I bet you got a nice deal didn't you. And that sexy clean body and interior just makes it a really, REALLY good base to start with. I hope you enjoy it and keep us up to date with pics along the way :)
OH! And...
No. All the fpr does is stop any pulses coming from your tank, usually via the pump. It makes for a smooth ,uniform delivery of fuel to the rail.
BTW when you asked about there being any welding required on fuel lines i nearly cracked up :biglaugh:
Good luck.
eric
$5000 for your dream build? Yeah, that sounds just right. I spent a bit over $4k and i didn't even touch the head. Although, i did buy a lot of genuine toyota bolts and parts ;)
eric
You know it's a quality build when you spray your block red, and the overspray goes significantly onto the block deck, and then you bolt down the head :biglaugh:
eric
The 7m block, is it sandcast out of one single mould? How did they cast it? I was curious as to weither it was one mould or not since if so then could we not create a mould again and use aluminum finally? man I'm just thinking out loud here but who knows...
I'd be down for some R&R ;)
