pre 89's and post had different wipers.. my 86.5 had a wiper that couldn't be lifted much, while my 89 and 92 lift up fully, like regular wipers..

you cannot use pre 89 bulb holders on 89+ taillights, as it won't fit.. using JDM bulb holders wouldn't affect the taillight failure light on the dash, even though they don't have rear side markers... it is definitely the taillight failure sensor, take it out, open it up, and look for...

if you're 89+, then 89+, if it's pre 89, then go with 89+ anyway..:D j/k.. I'd say stick with your original year, that way it's more original...

Buick Grand Nationals run without BOV's... there are some turbos with anti surge housings, but I'm not sure how well they work.. so just run a stock BOV, or upgrade it to a Bosch, and all will be well..

Yeah, I redlined my 89 when I was N/A racing my friend a few times, heard a pop, battery light came on and the car turned off, steering and brakes got stiff.. I coasted to a school parking lot where my car got towed, but it was all good..

you can swap in any engine, it's the wiring that'll get you... I've heard of people having headlight issues when not using the right year (87/88 - 89/92) engine in their car, among other things. I guess if you swap the harness as well, you might be able to avoid those issues but I'm not...

if you run a venting BOV on an AFM or similar system will result in rich conditions once the metered air is vented, but if you have a stand alone, or MAP set up you can vent without too many worries... the stock bypass valve is recirculated, so you should do the same. you can usually buy...

My 86.5 is fun as hell, I can take corners and the exhaust sounds menacing... the TEMS constantly hitting the max point with the targa off, just rowing through the gears is fun as hell... my 92 is nice and solid only noise I can hear is the stereo (and the squeaky hatch, gotta fix that)...

maybe use a tsunami kit..? or you can use the Canadian Acura 1.6 EL/Civic Domani/Isuzu Gemini front end... it's the same as the EK civic front you're using..
