No tail lights, but has brakes lights..?

Ok, I have no tail lights, however I still have brake lights, turn signals and reverse lights. The tail light failure light on the dash does not come on. The tail light fuse is not blown out, nor is the brake light fuse.

Its a 87t with JDM tails.

Not sure what your problem is but, are you using the 89+ bulb holders since your switching to 89+? I have some.

you cannot use pre 89 bulb holders on 89+ taillights, as it won't fit..


using JDM bulb holders wouldn't affect the taillight failure light on the dash, even though they don't have rear side markers...

it is definitely the taillight failure sensor, take it out, open it up, and look for loose or broken solders..

fix accordingly, and go on your merry way..

it usually fails because water will seep in from old, cracked or missing taillight gasket seals and gets into the box..

Check'd the box..had a burnt out solder

and I'm on USDM 89+ bulb holders, ik pre-89 wouldn't work.

btw are 89+ and pre-89 taillight failure boxes interchangable?

Does anyone have one FS?

only if the 89+ box is for an NA, and the turbo box is for a pre 89, as those use yellow boxes..

89+ turbos have different colored boxes and won't work properly..
