I am in a similar situation. My 2JZ is at the machine shop right now. This build should be a monster. I am not planning on running her until early April.
The Fargo race seen is alive and many hot cars hang there. fargostreet.com
Here's a link to one of them. Matt has a 2jz in his Ford Probe.

The latest: The pistons and rods showed up today. I snapped a few quick pics. They will be going out in mail tomorrow heading for Fargo. I don't know the weight of OEM pistons, these weigh 335 gms. They are the JE flat tops, and Manley rods.
Now, another 3 weeks and we will be ready...
Thanks IJ. I did a search on Supra Forums and couldn't find much. This crank had been polished once before when I spun a bearing. I think it is more precaution than anything. These guys do a ton of engine machining and I trust them.
Mike, from what the guy told me who is doing the machine work, it was not perfect and he wanted perfect. I have not heard that the crank would need to be re-nitrided. I am going to look into it. As of right now, I expect the pistons and rods to show up any day. Ship day was supposed to be 10/10...
Update: Today the Toyota gasket set, modified oil pump, ACL bearing set, and the ARP main studs bolts came in. The machine shop is grinding the crankshaft .010. I also e-mailed the guys at Real Street Performance asking if they have heard anything about the custom pistons. Machine shop told me...
Today I oredered pistons and rods. I bought them from Real Street performance. I went with the JE Asymetrical 10 to 1 compression and Manley rods. The JE's have about a 3 week lag time. If I am lucky, I can get Sean to put the engine back in her before he runs off to Central America for the winter.
Mike,
The brackets will indeed get repainted. I am hoping the machine shop calls next week to give me tolerances so I can order the pistons.
Jeremy, yes, frustrating season. Next year we will be kicking v8 ass and taking names.
Today I hauled the 2JZ to Fargo. I am using the same machine shop Dave Henry uses for his rebuilds, Quality Engine. I have never seen so many blocks and heads in one spot. Must have been a couple hundred of them. They look crazy busy. Once I get the call as to what sized pistons, and bearings. I...
Tonight Sean and Dallas pulled out the 2JZ. He had her out and on the engine stand in under 3 hours. I was busy working on the house, it might have been even quicker. Now the ATI pulley needs to come off, and then she will be on the way to the machine shop in a week or so. As of right now, the...
Sean is correct. We have had several issues over the last couple of years that could contribute to poor compression. Perhaps a not so hot machining job, rod knock with a lot of metal particulate in crank case. I was planning on building her someday anyway. Might as well get started. It's not the...
Mike, we finally fired her up last night. The bigger housing is on but the 4" exhaust is not. If it ever stops raining, I will take her for a drive tonight. I am planning on going. Still plenty of tweaking to do. Sean has been working up by Little Falls so getting the exhaust done up in the way...
