Hey guys. my car has been sitting for a while (greater that 3 months or so) due to some work. the car was sitting outside. i will be having the car towed to a buddy's shop to do an oil change on it and i have recharged the battery already.
what else do you guys recommend after a car has...
id go for a bolt on turbo over a 60-1. not saying that you cant make 400rwhp on it but its going to be hard and you will be pushing that turbo pretty hard
mechanix gloves. works great for handling hot things and for saving my knuckles from getting too banged up. only bad part if you get anything greasy on them (oil....) they can be slick. very worth it though
agreed, ive done it both ways too. it all really depends on what angle the PO left the worm clamps. just make sure you put them on correctly next time so you can have the right angle for the next time you want to pull them off
depends on the turbo you are running. the larger the turbo the more flow you get. i ran 18+ psi on an sp61gt previously w/o fc but your experience may vary depending on temp and the personal nuance of your car.
i dont think you ruined it acutally. you can get a new backingplate usually. that part doesnt spin at all guys, its just the backing plate to which the compressor housing bolts. you can try and use it and see if thing will bolt up and seal correctly, if it leaks send it out for a rebuild...
im not going to even read the responses or click the link jsut yet... if this is the hamster in a wheel again.... someones gonna be in trouble....
edit: damn you! i want my click back
correct. on an older car it is ok to replace the cat but not remove it. however the precat is only used really until the motor warms up enough to activate the primary. unless the tech is really up on his stuff and knows there should be a pre cat you should be ok if your readings are low enough.
