Just the stinger 4. Best ECU IMHO just because it's so easy to learn/tune. It's great even if you're knowledgeable with no standalone experience. Anyone can tune it, and the power is limitless. I used it on a 2JZGE-T with a 7MGTE harness/electronics.
This won't do it. If it does it's because either the timing is where it needs to be or the dell is where it needs to be, not because you need to balance them or anything.
There is no way to adjust timing mechanically on a 1JZ as it runs off the cam triggers. Since you have full timing...
Okay so I finally got around to some mods. Only because i had problems.
my car sounded like a truck, and had no power. I found I had blown the turbo>manifold gasket. Incidentally the bolts had backed themselves off the stud, despite nissans attempt to keep this from ever happening with "tabs"...
Seeing as though you're running on the factory fuel system, and I'm not seeing any mods that would put more air into the head. I can only assume you're right where you need to be "OEM rich".
Judging your AFR by 'smoke' doesn't really work in my experience. There can be too many variables.
That...
I loved the stinger. It's like a beginners standalone EMS. Everything is so simple. The price was right, and it was rare that it didn't cover my necessities (while all my needs were very basic).
Too many variables for me.
I do like that the R35 has included features that no other factory turbocharged car has had. LC and state of the art data logging comes to mind.
Just going to throw out there how strong Matt's stock internal 2JZGE was.
relay for methanol pump died.. who knows HOW long it was run in this condition. I was tuning it via the datalogs.
23psi.
pump gas
25* ignition timing
~8.7 CR
WOT
15.0 AFR
3rd gear pulls
It did NOT blow...
I honestly feel like those are very impressive numbers.
That just goes to show everyone who said "it won't run right." :)
Great job Nick!
Your car is an inspiration. Simplicity.
I have a question for you Nick, because you took a chance and tried something different. Do you regret doing this...
I personally wouldn't go to a smaller hotside.
A standalone ECU and an EXPERIENCED tuner will help your spool time, but I wouldn't expect a dramatic difference.
You will see the best results from the standalone ECU, and a 3.0L block.
I personally wouldn't go 1.5JZ without a standalone ECU...
