The w-58 is a push type, the r154 is a pull there is no way you will get that to work. There are performance clutches for the w-58 out there you just have to look around.

No, you can use a auto ECU for a 5spd but not the other way around. plus the wiring harness is different from the auto and 5spd.
You might want to tell your buddy that the FCD is a bad idea, that is the quick and easy way of getting rid of fuel cut, but also gets rid of your fail safe.
