thats not the point... Point is i said a thermostate out can cause a car to run hot .. and i have seen in a few cases lower radiator hoses suck shut when motor at high way rpms.. that was cause from a pluged radiator and a soft hose... and another one was just because the hose was not the right...

if you think having a lower rad hose suck shut or a thermostate being out cause a car to run hot is out to lunch thinking..... we might need to take a pole on who is right and who is wrong...

my point is simple.. when all the normal things check out.. look for the abnormal...
if you can not think this way.. you could never make it as a mechanic in...
if you got spark while running and its making no diferance... then its one of 2 other things... fuel or compression....
if it runs good sometimes... then its not compression as its not a come and go thing...

Over the years i have seen several diferant types of cars run hot on highway with no stat in... chevys fords... and i think it was a honda once.. been long time...
not alot.. but id say 5 -7cars over the years .... once a stat was put back in.. they ran normal temps again...

when you put new head gasket on.. did you have head shaved ? and how much if so ?
what is your compression ratio ?
and i would try another thermostat.... as its the easyest to do ...

If its not closing or stuck open the water can acually travel to fast threw...
i do some times...depends on condition of block and what plugs... and how they go in.. if they go in a tad to easy... then yes i deg put something on them.. usally yellow 3m... seams to work well...
but if you didnt dont worry.. unless they went in easy...... fastest way to burn a motor down...
when you say blow ? you mean you put new one in and turn key on it blows ? turn over and it blows ? cranks up and runs for a minut and blows ? or last for hrs ? days or weeks ?
