Wiring is very carefully routed under the fenders and above the liners. Any wires going to the engine itself are wrapped in black and tucked as much as possible to make them vanish into the background.
Filters... not so crazy, actually. Stock oil filter location on the 2J. Fuel filter is...
Hmm... maybe I should post a quick update here. I've done a fair bit recently...
- Switched many engine bay hoses to black braid instead of stainless
- Mounted AP Racing front calipers
- New fender liners
- New windshield and door glass
- New trim for windshield and door glass
- New inside...
Ran into one of these swarms years ago on the washington coast highway in the Supra. It was insane... the road was completely covered, and crushed bugs don't provide great traction. When I got home, there was crushed bug an inch deep on my front bumper.
And the wheel wells... I don't even.
I've driven the OS Giken unit, and I wasn't impressed. It may hold, but it's loud, it shudders in 1st / reverse from a stop, and it has a pedal that's as hard as many single discs. There was a WORLD of difference between OS Giken and Tilton.
I really wish I had someone local I could test drive...
LOL - actually, that switch is so that you can run decent quarter mile times... and while there are Supras that hold their own quite well on the drag strip, it's not what they excel at. There are plenty of folks pushing 1000+ through manuals, and several clutches that hold fine.
It's not terribly difficult, just fab a bracket that mounts to the original mounting points and provides new mounting points an inch further from the firewall.
I've always been a PWR fan, but shipping from Aussie land is killer... so when I heard C&R uses PWR cores, I was happy as hell.
I'm in the market for a new damper, and at the moment it seems like a coin toss which one to get... although, all things being equal, and extra $100 in my pocket can't...
Ugly story... however, I fail to see how it applies. Forged Performance doesn't do work on Toyotas, from what I can see. They aren't a vendor here, and as far as I can tell none of the members has ever had any dealings with them.
I'll put those fans / radiator up against the C&R unit any day. ;) 'Course, the C&R unit is three time the price. :(
You prefer the Fluidampr over the ATI units? Any reasoning there?
Clear timing gear cover - who makes those, where did you get it, and is it super brittle like the 7M variants?
Bit of thread revival here.
Evidently RPS was listening to the complaints, because they now have a listing for a twin disk carbon / carbon for the 1JZ / R154. I'm thinking it will likely work for the 2JZ / R154 as well, considering they are supposed to be identical from the flywheel back...
Canadian Tire... just picked up the Meguires stuff, which I thought was a bunch of clay, but turns out to be two small packages of clay plus a spraybottle of their detailing finish that you use as lube for the clay.
I'll be looking for some other kind to buy next time - I'd rather buy separates.
Tried out claybar on the weekend for the first time ever... stuff is amazing. Unbelievable how little effort it is to use, and what a huge difference it makes.
