I have a PLX wideband that logs to my laptop or to the shops dyno computer. When I'm on the dyno I can also log RPM and boost, but that only helps to tune WOT.
The main reason that I want to see what's going on inside the ECU is to see what the long term fuel trims are. It's best to tune the...
I have an OTC Genysis scanner... I'll have to buy the OBDI toyota cable for it and see if it'll connect to the car. That would be sweet. I don't know how I didn't think of that before.... I use the damn thing everyday on other people's cars.
Probably have to use one of the other toyta or lexus...
There are like 15 different kinds of ebay bov's.
The greddy style ones are usually the worst, they last a month, if they work in the first place.
I forgot to add something in my first post about them.... mine was full of metal shavings when I got it. I'm sure that's good for the motor.
Anyone who puts anything on their car for either incorrect reasons, or just for the sake of it looking like something that's useful on some other type of car. Also, modifying a car that truly has no performance potential just because it's what they happen to have in their garage could also make...
The ideal tire size for 7" wheels is actually a 205/55-16. The sidewalls are perfectly square and the full contact patch is on the road.
This is the size snow tire's I have on my stock wheels to help improve the turn in response to offset the squishy snow tires. They actually look better than...
Keep some cash on the side for repairs and keep an eye on everything on the car to minimize surprises and you'll be fine driving an older import like that. I drove a 93 eclipse turbo for 10 years (most of the time it was my only car) till it had over 200,000 miles on it and in those 10 years I...
I would go standalone, but I can't afford it right now. If I go single turbo and upgrade my transmission I will, but for now I'm keeping the stock turbos and just looking to get a reliable 360hp out of them.
I haven't driven the car yet, so I guess it's possible it won't need much tuning at...
Here's a tip for anyone who's aggravated with the wheel websites that don't let you search by wheel size and only spit out weak fitments (like 17x7 and 18x7.5) for the Supra. Search for wheels for a 97' Ford Mustang Cobra instead. The OE wheels on it were 17x9" and the wheel websites show wheels...
Wait, the ECU plugs were cut off the harness? Is that what you're asking? If the ECU plugs were cut then just solder them back up. If the wires were ripped out (like mine were) just google "soarer ecu pinout" and there's a picture with abbreviated descriptions of the wiring that you can use to...
There's a sticky at the top of this forum with the wiring info, I just wired my 87' up with a JZZ30 soarer a/t swap using that info and it was all good.
lol. Not one of the thing I'd be willing to try to make.
So how do you tune these things with a piggyback without being able to look at the fuel trims and timing retard value?
I like doing trades for random stuff of little or no value... I once got a box of 8-bit nintendo games in trade for a 1st gen CRX bumper. lol. The guy seemed as happy to get rid of the games as I was to get rid of the bumper.
Best trade ever though was a water pump on a dodge shadow in trade...
Turned the headlights on for the first time today and my AFC neo backlight dimmer is flashing between the dim and regular settings. I wired the dimmer signal to the ashtray light, which I assumed would turn on and off with the headlights. Why would it be doing this?
Possibly pulls air from under the bumper like the mid 80's trans am's.
I hear that silver car is actually considered tasteful in some parts of jersey. I think I could see the cast of "Jersey Shore" driving it.
Might try a local driveshaft shop to see if they can replace it. Our local guy can work wonders.
Also, what didn't you like about the 1 piece? I was considering one if the carrier turns out to be too bad on my stock shaft.
Is there any datalogging options out there for this engine that don't involve a standalone ECU or wiring up the whole car with $1000 worth of sensors and boxes?
I'm running a stock JZZ30 ECU with an AFC Neo for fuel control.
I'd just like to log RPM, throttle, boost, knock (or timing advance)...
Yeah, I'd have to agree... if your brakes are squealing adjusting the pedal won't fix that.
Also, you're right. I was thinking of the booster rod adjustment, the pedal adjustment would just make the brakes drag constantly. Your pedal adjustment needs to be re-checked after you adjust the...
