Will GS300 brakes fit on a MKIII?

I had a 94' GS300 in for front brake pads/rotors at work today and noticed the brakes would be a nice upgrade for a MKIII, but I don't know if the calipers have the same bolt spacing as our cars, does anyone know if these bolt up?

The rotors are about the same diameter as ours... but are literally twice as thick. Talk about heat capacity. Same bolt pattern as ours, I didn't check the center bore, but it looks about right.

The pads are about the same size too, except the calipers are 2 piston and are built heavier. They look like they would flex less.

I'm just going to guess and say the chances that a lexus gs300 does not have the same bolt spacing are pretty low. Doubt anyone here has actually tried to see so be our guinea pig haha.

I need to to the rear brakes on my car tonight so I guess I'll pull a front wheel while it's on the lift and see if the caliper bracket and rotor fits. These would be a cheap upgrade.

No such luck...

The caliper bracket almost fits, maybe with some bolt hole elongation it would bolt up. The problem is the rotor doesn't fit. Our hub OD is too large. Not the center part that centers the wheels, but the outside of the hub itself that's behind the rotor hats. You'd have to have the hubs lathed down a few mm. I think a spacer would also be needed behind the rotor to center it in the bracket properly.

So.. not a good swap. For all that effort there are better options, unless someone is trying to stuff heavy brakes in a 16" wheel. Then this would be a good swap.

I'm not really having a problem with the stock brakes anyway, other than I need to get more aggressive front pads and possibly put a bias adjuster in. My rears lock up before the front because of the weight reduction. Flat spotted a tire this past weekend trying to stop for what was possibly the shortest yellow light in the state. ABS would have helped, but incorrect bias would have only caused the ABS to active prematurely anyway.

Three Words. Dowards Cobra Brakes.

Best mod ive done to my car so far. You can see the way they fill the 17 inch wheel in my sig.

how much does it run said and done?

ABS still work?

Depends on how you set it up. You can get a complete setup from vendors on the forums. Under 1000 unless you get some big dollar rotors or pads.

under 1k front and rear? if so not bad

Just front, for regular parts your looking 600-800 range. as i said before though, its VERY much worth the cost. The only thing i have noticed is the EBC red pads im using all around like some heat before there grabby. After driving a few miles to let them warm up the car stops in a hurry.

Mustang could be had for about 500-600 bucks for the front with looking for deals. DM sells the brackets for 200 shipped + 89 for front brake lines (130 for front & rear), calipers 40-80 bucks roughly, 100 bucks for rotors 100 bucks for pads...

Let me know where you found cobra calipers for 40-80 bucks. You wont find them cheaper then about $225 for the pair. There expensive, Even used, I looked when i did mine. Ended up going new from a parts store my buddy hooks me up at.

Just checked theres a pair on ebay for 65, dont think they come with brackets though, Those are a steal for anyone looking for them. Rock Auto lists them $110 new with bracket each.
