    Birdcage of Doom...

sbenson619, I tried that, but probably didn't put in enough oil for it to make a difference. I'll put more in and check again. AJ'S 88NA, how can that much carbon build up in only 10,000 miles? Now, when my engine was rebuilt, the shop shaved 0.030" off the head, which is a lot. I calculated...

    Birdcage of Doom...

So, I head out to run some errands and 4 miles from my house, my birdcage lights up. I quickly find a place to turn and stop, easily under a minute from when I saw the warning light. After a tow home and some inspecting, I find that the heater valve body is broken on the engine side. I lost...

    Supra Owner's Manual

I keep one in my glove box for such reference as light bulb sizes. It's good to have at the auto parts store when I have no tools with me to remove the dead bulb to find what size it is. Somewhere on the forums recently someone posted how to get new ones. Your favorite dealer may be able to...

    Supra Steering wheel re-covered!!!

That looks sweet! My original was gray. That price is good, too. Toyota wanted $900 for a wheel back when you could still get one. I recovered mine in black (because I couldn't get gray) and it took forever and didn't look this nice. Spend the money on leather and time doing it yourself and...

Anybody here have Unobtanium Motorsports Nylon bushings installed on their cars?

Unfortunately, if you open the toe arm bushing enough so it can rotate as it has to, the fit will be so sloppy it'll be worse the the stock rubber. It probably will hurt a bunch, but what you should to is buy the 8 lower bushings for the rear in polyu from RK and eat the cost. It'll work far...

Anybody here have Unobtanium Motorsports Nylon bushings installed on their cars?

See here: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59173 And here: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showpost.php?p=836518&postcount=22 Don't put that nylon bushing in your #1 arm unless you want the arm to break. The nylon will be fine in the upper arms. Did your arm spring...

    Steering Feel & Other Delights

My '04 Nissan 350Z has two ball joints on the bottom of the front, and a third on the upper arm. The G35 has the same suspension. The Audi S6 (I think) has two ball joints on the top in the front, so there are two upper links instead of one wishbone. I'm also fairly certain than the Lexus IS300...

    Steering Feel & Other Delights

You forgot steering offset. It's the distance from where the steering axis hits the ground to the center of the contact patch. Increasing the steering offset, say with different offset wheels, will increase the return-to-center force. It doesn't really affect handling, just feel. You also...

    T1 Torsen Stress Analysis

Cool. That's not exactly where I figured the main problem area is, but I've not actually seen a broken one. Was your model for the condition where both rear tires have equal torque? I'd be interested in how it looks when the tires have different torques on them, even 45/55. It's probably rare to...

    Bushing kit

And that's only because the Teflon is held in place by some fabric like Nomex. Amen, Brother! I will amend that amen slightly by saying my first set of front lowers used an Orkot (phenolic) sleeve "floated" in a tube of 80A. That worked extremely well for 120,000 miles until the polyu was...

    Bushing kit

I will admit that you got my knickers into a twist and I went into rant mode. Sorry. I'm saying the cost of making a set is not just the materials cost, but includes a piece of all the development expenses plus labor to make it. Think of a wooden dining-room chair. The wood could be...

    Bushing kit

Google got me nothing on this delcon, but if it's anything like delrin, look at this picture: http://www.mk3ukr-supra.com/Rear%20arm%2001a.jpg You'll probably be fine using it for the fronts and uppers, but don't use it in the lower rears. Asterix

    Bushing kit

Maybe you should've read the thread I referenced before saying that. I have personally developed my bushing set that is in my car right now. I even posted my labor cost from an inexpensive machine shop. Most shops charge twice this for small quantity prototypes. The setup time kills them...

    Bushing kit

Ya know, we've beat this subject to death already... :nono: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59173 For reasons only known to the aftermarket manufacturers, the MkIII has never had the support and parts choices that other cars have. In fact, I've seen more parts show up in...

Hm, what are some good all-season tires?

Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Asymmetrical is my vote. I've tried the Toyo Proxies, Yokohama somethings (maybe A4S), Pirelli (maybe P5 or 6 - it's been a while), and I know someone who had Michelins of some sort that were too hard and overpriced. The best all-around for wear, dry, rain, and snow has...

    Call from machine shop...shit...

Scored cam journals are pretty typical on this head and really nothing to worry about... There are ways to fix the out-of-straightness, too. However, since a head in better shape probably costs less than the cost of fixing yours, I'd go with another. Unless, of course, you have too much money...

    Call from machine shop...shit...

My head had 0.030" taken off it. Now I run mid-grade gas because of the increase in compression ratio. A quick Googlin' suggests aluminum get annealed at over 300, and more like 400deg C. I doubt that happened unless you ran it a long time with no coolant in it. Asterix

finished my sway bar end links do you like?

I can't find my parts list, but looking at McMaster's offerings, I'm pretty sure the one I used is 59915K484. It has a PTFE liner/race, for sure. The ball is 440 and the housing is 303. They're rated for static load of about 3000 lbs. They seemed like a great idea, but wore quickly to where they...

finished my sway bar end links do you like?

I made a set a few years ago from McMaster end links that were very similar. They lasted only a couple of months before the rattles started. Keep an eye on them. Asterix

    manual driver seat

My '88 NA (Sport package) has a manual driver's seat. The seat back angle adjustment oozes down, but it takes many months. There's also an adjustment to raise the part under your thighs, which I've not moved in forever. Yes, the lumbar adjustment is electric with the knob on the center console...
