here are some pictures of my sway bar end links i finished today. the rod ends are stainless steel as is the threaded rod. i used stainless jam nuts and the nuts on the rod ends are nyloc. everything is 3/8 -24. im fairly confident that these will hold up just fine but just want to see if everyone approves or if anyone has some suggestions for improvements. obviously i could have gone with more expensive end links but these are teflon lined and were readily available from my local supplier

those picture were with the car jacked up so the control arm is angles down and the sway bar is not angled down. the endlinks are set at the factory length i have not adjusted them for preload yet

i made the end links basically from the grainger catalog lol. so what you all are saying is that when the car is on the ground the bar should be parallel to the ground

I made a set a few years ago from McMaster end links that were very similar. They lasted only a couple of months before the rattles started. Keep an eye on them.

I'm assuming the bushings are what went away on them?

Do you remember what material the bushings were constructed of?

It would be a starting point as far as choosing correct material for longer wear.

the bushing in these end links are teflon so they should last a little while but let me put a disclaimer here this is on my race car not my daily driver. that means this car gets a thorough check before it ever moves and things like failing endlinks would be caught before they fail

I can't find my parts list, but looking at McMaster's offerings, I'm pretty sure the one I used is 59915K484. It has a PTFE liner/race, for sure. The ball is 440 and the housing is 303. They're rated for static load of about 3000 lbs. They seemed like a great idea, but wore quickly to where they were annoying. I could feel the ball clunking in the housing.

The problem is surely the constant high-frequency pounding due to all the patches in the pavement. The liner just can't take that. Plus, they're right there up front, getting grungy water and dust and crap thrown at them. Maybe some seals would make them last longer, like these: http://store.summitracing.com/partd...art=SIT-WS3750&N=700+-209895+115&autoview=sku

I'd bet these rod ends would last a long time on an industrial machine, but on the road, they get loose fast.
