Opinions of the BOSS Stage 5 TO4E 58 turbo

thanks for the advice but im pretty keen to keep with a bolt on, i'm not chasing monster power, as i'll just have to keep upgrading more parts of the drivetrain and fuel system. I'm going to be making a large order from horsepowerfreaks.com and the only bolt on turbos they sell are turbnetics...

Opinions of the BOSS Stage 5 TO4E 58 turbo

G'day all, I'll keep this short and sweet, I'm looking at getting a new turbo, i want it to be bolt on so i don't have to get a custom exhaust manifold and can keep my 3" dump pipe. My engine in going to be rebuilt, ie. new bearings, mhg, forged pistons and i'll have a few little...

Anyone here wired up there standalone by themselves?

lol is there anything 7m based you don't know :p well i may have the first problem solved thanks to a bloke on Toymods, but my car still won't actually kick over. Heres the dealio, I have an EMS DualSport standalone, with a custom loom for the 7m and an EMS 3 coil ignitor module, I have...

    My MZ21 Soarer buildup

mmm i know... :icon_conf however it will do to get the car kicking over, which is really my major goal at present. I'm guessing it will make my 100mm intercooler somewhat redundant however lol. I will definatly be sorting something out, i'll probally widen the hole i used for the intercooler...

    My MZ21 Soarer buildup

Update time, I have been progressing a bit slowly. Lots of different hoses and hose clamps I found I needed along the way. But alas, the engine bay is looking pretty much complete. I despise the filter location, but it will have to do until I can sort out some shielding or get some pipe bent up...

    *7M Crank RPM Limit*

IJ: The block appears to be a standard 7mgte one, i guess it was one of the few dodgy ones floating around at the start of production *shrugs* But annnnyway, do you have any estimate on what you'll be putting out with the extra 9psi? I'm guessing arounds 450rwkw? boy that'd be a handful :naughty:

    *7M Crank RPM Limit*

ahh cheers mate, that makes sence. The non oil squirter block was the original from my 86 soarer, the other two blocks are from 87 and 88

    *7M Crank RPM Limit*

heheh very nice mate The fully counter weighted crank came in the later model oil squirter block correct? and isn't stamped with 6M or 7M correct? I ask because my mates OS block has a 6m stamped crank, as do both my OS and non-OS blocks, is it likely our counterweighted cranks have been...

    My MZ21 Soarer buildup

Update time, I picked up the remaining gaskets and copper washers needed from Toyota. The two intakes, throttle body, and all fuel line washers set me back about $80. I wanted to get the ISCV gasket from them too, but as it would need to be ordered from Japan and take a few weeks to get here...

    7mgte EGR stuff

Sorry don't quite understand where you mean? Could you explain that a bit more? This is what i thought, as i'm going standalone should i just remove all this stuff and plug any holes?

    7mgte EGR stuff

G'day guys, My new 7m is basically ready to go back in the car, I'm just at the stage of putting back all the vacuum hoses and bits of piping. As I’m going with a standalone computer and don’t want to use 3 of my 4 aux outs for the ISCV I’ve removed it and the connecting hoses. This has led...

    My MZ21 Soarer buildup

I've ordered the remaining gaskets I need and have taken the standard dump pipe and the ISCV into an exhaust place. I need a bung for the wbo2 sensor installed and a plate to cover where the ISCV goes. I would have done both jobs myself as they aren't exactly complex, unfortunately I lack the...

    My MZ21 Soarer buildup

Although trivial, I don’t think the bright red would suit the Soarer, so while I piece together the rest of the bits needed before I can drop the engine in, I gave it a few coats of paint. Electrical tape is great as masking things up as it can be stretched around weird shapes, obviously...

    My MZ21 Soarer buildup

Thanks for the replies guys :) Now that I had a good idea on what needed to be done I set about hunting down all the parts and prices, I managed to source a replacement head for $190 and then had it resurfaced for a further $60, The bloke that machined it said it too was slightly warped...

    My MZ21 Soarer buildup

G'day all, Alas yes, she isn’t a Supra, though those of you aware of the Z20 Soarers will most likely know that they in fact share the same chassis as the mighty A70's and as such also share the same mighty engine and gearbox combinations, Just a little bit of background on the car, I...

    Replacing 7mgte ecu

A couple more Q's, For an engine to start correctly is this how things should be switched via the ignition switch? - On AM2 the fuel pump is connected to power, as are the coils, while the injectors are already connected to 12v, but will be switched on/off via ground by the EMS once the...

    Replacing 7mgte ecu

It's an EMS DualSport, It's a few years old and made in australia so i doubt you guys will have much info on them. It has it's own wiring loom suited to a 7mgte. What i originally wanted to do was have the EMS controlling the engine, while the standard ecu still did the things the EMS can't...

    Replacing 7mgte ecu

G'day guys, I've began preperation for the installation of my EMS, it came with a complete loom and an EMS 3 coil ignitor, I unwrapped the standard loom today and did some labeling/wire tracing. It all looked like it should be pretty straight forward. My question though is, Because i...

    Similar setups to this

ahh sorry for the lack of info, In reguards to what boost, im thinking 12psi to start with, and probally up to 14psi so long as 14psi isn't going to kill the turbo, 14psi is the limit with ct26's because they can't run efficiently after that? not because they break yer? The ecu is laptop...
