There are a few differences. I haven't had time but I'll post up some base settings soon for running S/D on the N/A.

Can the original MAFT work with the flapper? I am wanting to use the setup on my 85 with a 6M...

Sorry, no. At this point only the MAFT Pro supports the VAF. Also, you'll need to make sure that the 6M's VAF uses the same scale as the 7M-GE's... I am not wholly familiar with MKII's, do they use the same VAF?

Speed/Density Settings and Configuration -- IN PROGRESS!!!!!

Please keep in mind that at this point I have not yet switched over to Speed/Density! These settings may be thoroughly inaccurate. For now consider this information as a mere pointer to get you started in the right direction. VERIFY ALL YOUR SETTINGS!!!

Before you go plugging in the your MAFT Pro and try changing the settings make sure you are running at LEAST version 4.84 on the MAFT Pro.

Below is a list of the various settings available in the MAFT Pro. I highly recommend you take some time to familiarize yourself with all of the sections, their selections and their purpose.

MANY of these settings will vary heavily depending on whether your application is N/A or running some form of forced induction!!!

Menus:
CFG Settings
System Setup
Boost Control
AFR Tracking
Air Temp
Aux Trig
Tune High Load
Tune Mid Load
Tune Low Load
Tune Response
SensorMonitor
Spark WOT
Spark Aux
PT Tracking

Verify that all the settings listed here are appropriate for your setup.

CFG Settings

1) Vehicle Select ----- "Mode: 0"
2) # of Cyl. ---------- "6"
3) Displacement ------ "3.00 Litres"
4) Airfl Mode --------- "0 - Speed Density with temp compensation"
5) MAP Source ------- "0 - GM 3 bar sensor" OR "3 - GM 2 bar sensor" Select the one which corresponds to your MAP sensor. 2 BAR sensors are a bit more common and will work fine on a 7M running 20psi or less.
6) Load Srce (Dens Srce) - "0 - Use MAP"
7) Baro Mode -------- "Sealevel" OR "Read @ Key-on" ***I am unsure of the best setting here. I will update this when I have more info.
8) F-Out Mode ------- "0 - Fuel Pump Ctrl" ---Do NOT set this to #4 "Supra MK-III"
9) V-Out1 Mode ------ "17 - Toyota VAF"
10) V-Out2 Mode ----- "0 - Use setpoint"
11) AFR Source ------- "0 - None" If you have a wideband installed select the appropriate model here.
12) F-In Mode -------- "0 - None (OFF)"
13) Aux1 Mode -------- "0 - Aux trig OFF" ---Do NOT set this to #28 "Toyota VAF"
14) FlowErr Mode ----- "1 - SD / Tuned"

Please not that there are settings available for #8 and #13 which may seem the natural choice, they are not. Use the settings specified unless you're sure your specific install requires something else.

System Setup

1) Main Scale ------ "0.0"
2) V-Out1 Set ----- "2.500"
3) V-Out2 Set ----- "3.600"
4) Afterstart ------- "0.0"
5) Lo Load Pt ------ "36.4" ***If tuning an N/A this will need to scaled accordingly. Try starting with ~35 here.
6) Mid Load Pt ----- "100.1" ***If tuning an N/A this will need to scaled accordingly. Try starting with ~60 here.
7) Hi Load Pt ------- "143.0" ***If tuning an N/A this will need to scaled accordingly. Try starting with ~80 here.
8) F Out Max ------- "0"
9) Tm Base --------- "0.0"
10) Tm Correct ----- "1.27"
11) AF TrDelay ----- "0.0"
12) FE Smooth ------ "0"
13) Use VE Table # - "1 - Use VE Table #1" OR "2 - Use VE Table #2" Unless you are tuning your system you probably won't see much difference between these two.
14) SpkBase -------- "15.0"

Tune Response
***NOTE: These Settings are untested and may be inaccurate! Verify ALL your settings!

TPS Enrich ----- "0.40"
TPS Decay ----- "0.60"
TB Size -------- "6"
TPS MAP Max -- "104.0" ***If tuning an N/A this will need to scaled accordingly.
MAP Enrich ----- "0.10"
Bst Enrich ------ "0.10" ***Applicable only to boosted engines.
MAP TPS Min --- "0.460"
MAP RPM Min --- "750"
MAF Lim TPS --- "0.000"
MAF Limit ------ "0.0"
MAF /Krpm ----- "0.0"

Again, if you're not mounting the MAFT Pro out in the open, but instead keeping it in the center console or your glovebox, I HIGHLY recommend you switch to the SensorMonitor menu. This way any accidental key depressions will not change critical settings.

Setting and configuration listing and description:

For the time being you can find an online copy of a worksheet I have been using to log my changes here:

http://www.fadingworld.com/Supra/MAFT/Manual 4.80.php

This will NOT remain online for any specific period of time, may contain inaccurate information and in no way are the settings listed to be referenced when setting up your system!!!

Eventually I will be launching an online guide similar to this but including links to detailed information regarding all critical settings. Until then, I hope this helps some of you. :icon_bigg

NOTE: The Latest LC-1 W/B's have only 6 wires, not seven. If your LC-1 does not have the Green wire (analogue ground) you need to run the purple wire (pin #2) from the MAFT Pro's 10 pin connector to the same bolt that you used to ground the two wires (white and blue) from the LC-1.

http://www.fullthrottletech.com/showthread.php?t=3251

I will update my diagrams to reflect this later.

I am now running Speed/Density! The car isn't tuned yet, so don't bother asking how well it's running... the important thing is that it's up and running!

I'll be posting more details concerning the settings sooner or later. ;)

When you first get everything hooked up go into the SensorMonitor screen in the MAFT Pro's menus. Set any one of the four monitors for "MP". That's what your ambient manifold pressure reading. In Denver (way above sea level) I typically see around 84KPA, yours will be closer to 100KPA. You want to set your HIGH Tune Load to about 12% less than the ambient value. Somewhere between 10 and 15% is where I think we'll end up finding our desired target, still working on this one. 100 x .88 = 88

Then to figure out your MID Tune Load you'll want to take about 35% off of the ambient value. 100 x .65 = 65

For the low I've just gone with a default of 35. You can play around with this a little more if you find you need more or less scaling between your lows and mids.

Here's how these values are used:

Low Load Point = 35: Anytime the manifold pressure is at or below this value the Low User Tune fuel adjustments are used, they are not scaled in any way.

Mid Load Point = 65: When the MAP is AT 65KPA the Mid User Tune values will be used without scaling. If you're MAP is between 35KPA and 65KPA the fuel value for any given RPM will be scaled between the value set in the Low User Tune and the Mid User Tune. So if your Low is at 0 and your Mid is set to +4 and the MAP is right in the middle the fuel adjustment will be around +2. Make sense?

High Load Point = 88: When the MAP is below this value, but higher than the Mid Load Point the fuel adjustment will be scaled between the two. If your MAP is at or above this value the adjustment will be as set in the High User Tune fuel map.

Other adjustments you'll need to make are as follows:
Boost Enrichment = 0.0
MAP Enrichment could probably be scaled back a little
TPS MAP Max I've got set for just a bit above my Mid Load Point. I've got it at about 20% less than ambient.
For now I would turn off AFR tracking, or set all the values in there for 12.5. If you do want to enable it set the min load for something close to the halfway point between your mid and high load points.

A lot of this you're going to have to feel out... I don't have much real world data to go off of just yet.

If you run into an issue AJ, PM me and I'll give you my phone number. It's easier and quicker. ;)

Thanks CRE. Got everything ready (I think) Going to try to power up shortly. If I have any problems I'll PM you. If I get it running alright I'm going to get it to the tuner next week because he has the dyno and a laptop.
Thanks again for all the work you've done. AJ

Which version of the MAFT Pro software are you using?

If your MAFT Pro came with an older version I recommend you use either this version:
http://www.fadingworld.com/Supra/MAFTwriteup/TPRO484.zip

Or 4.89 which you can download from http://www.fullthrottletech.com/showthread.php?t=2129

The 4.84 version has some software additions for the 7M-GE. The FC line will only prime the fuel system when the ignition is turned on, with any version newer than that the fuel pump goes full on when the ignition is turned to the on position and stays on. I'm not sure if the remainder of the additions are intact in the later versions. The FC is a safety feature. It ensures that the fuel pump shuts off when the engine stops.

I've made a number of tweaks to my settings today... just stuff to make the car run a bit better until I can start tuning it this weekend. I've got it tuned enough now that it's running about the same as with my MAF. So, I'm still running very rich, but I'm using PTT to help recoup a little of the loss where safe (and no, doing this isn't recommended).

I'll share my settings and post recommended initial settings early next week.

Hey CRE, I think I downloaded the TPRO 489. The bins you sent last night I can"t read, says because they were Emailed? Did I do right to copy every thing on the disk that came with the maft pro? Will the Maft Pro work if I connected a 12 v supply ( batt. charger ) w/fuse to update to maft pro from my desktop? Or a transformer for maybe a battery operated kids car which would have less amps.

What says the files can't be read because they were emailed? That's just odd.... were the attachments stripped from the email?

Yeah, the MAFT Pro will power up with any 12VDC power source, just make sure you power and ground the right pins. ;)

To update the MAFT Pro and to upload a bin to it from Tuner Pro you're going to need to know what the number of the COM port you've got it all connected to. Typically it's between 1 and 4, but could be higher.

You asked about where I took my map from, where my egr was right off the back of the manifold the "T"'s other side goes to the heater vac switch.
On the flowErr mode is o setting right or should it be "1" SD tuned?

Okay, the vacuum source is fine. Yeah, go ahead and set FlowErr to SD/Tuned.

By the way I spoke to Bob, he'll try to get us another 7M-GE only version of 4.89 sometime in the next week.

The attachments are nothing to do with Adobe. So that's half the problem. On Sunday, if you've got some time I can make a little time to call and walk you through a bit of this. :icon_bigg

My pug? Don't be messin' wit' da pug! Heh, I've got two, I'd love about 4 more. The one pictured is our "little monster". If you're referring to something else, I have no idea what... but I'll take anything that's free... unless it's infectious. ;)

I have just one port on back that says serial that wiil take the cord that came w/Maft.

Yeah, the cable is a certain type of serial cable. It connects to the serial port on the PC and the one that looks just like it on the back of the MAFT Pro.

For now though you might have less problems if you just wait and we'll talk about all of it on Sunday.

I have some more suggestions for your initial settings, so we can talk about that then as well.

If anyone is using it, I've updated the online guide/work sheet I've been working on. You will find it here. It includes one addition from v4.89 several corrections and quite a few description updates.

As I've stated previously, this may not remain up for any period of time and information may contain inaccuracies.

If you care to add/correct something or have other comments or questions PM me... Please do NOT post them in this thread.
