I found a Q45 TB at a junkyard away from the city for 45 bucks and it came with the TPS. You just have to LOOK.

Bastard. I want one too :)

I'm going to come steal it when I come by sometime soon to check all that you're doing out!

Damn.. and I was planning on buying a '97 SC300 anyways. Might have to do this instead of a full GTE swap. Still, seems easy to buy "plug n' play" parts for the GTE for a BPU solution [until you are ready for turbo/fuel/management and tuning]. I don't know if it would be easier to pull the head and do machine work on a GE, or to put a GTE with excellent leakdown/compression results in for future mods. Regardless, I want a R154 or V160, and I want good power that can leave me with decent gas mileage if I choose not to boost around all the time like an a-hole.

Does the 97 come with the vvti block? Yeah - if the TT motor wasnt at LEAST 2k I would consider using it over the GE block. It would actually have to be about 1k before I would consider using it over the GE. Its just that GE cores are so cheap.....

No. The reason I want the '97 model is because it is the FIRST year of the new body style, the LAST year of the manual transmission, and the LAST year of non-VVTi. You pretty much get the best of all worlds. While I may not hold out for a manual tranny one, it's good to know the option is there, even if I don't decide go manual later.

I just read 13 pages of a build up or swap, whatever you want to call it, and there isn't one freaking picture. I thought the rules clearly stated that you must post pictures of a swap or not start a thread.................

Well first off, this was originally posted in the 7m section but it pissed everyone off so it was moved. It wasnt intended to be a build thread.

I do have some pics posted from the head porting and ccing of the chambers in different threads if you want to see that stuff.

I am in the middle of painting the car right now too... I will post pics in a build thread soon

Need to get Ron to start making FFI for these, might become popular.
I just built one for a friends NA-T MK4. It wasnt quite finished in these pics. It has billet velocity stacks and a 90mm TB.

I don't know much about the 2JZGE, but if a W58 is a direct fit then why is it not a direct fit for the R154. Just curious as I am wanting to do the same swap.

You need to have the right bellhousing to go from the engine to the trans. There are bellhousings to go from M series engines to W58 (NA MKIII) M series engine to R154 (Turbo MKIII/MA70) JZ engines to W58 (NA MKIV) and JZ engines to R154 (JDM Turbo MKIII/JZA70). You just need the right bellhousing to make your combo work.

looking great p5150, glad to see that people are still trying new things. once i get the money situation settled, im going to be taking a serious look at this, with a small single set up.
