Is that guy sure that it didn't say 16 x 7.5?
that's probably what it said.

There is some truth to the "conservative" nature of some guys rims here at Supramania. 240 guys are all about the stretch and pushing the limits. You even see some extreme setups on Lexus SCs. The Sup is a big body ride and can have some wide fitments with low offsets to give it a nice stance. Hell, I have 18x8s on my 05 Altima ...and I want to go wider.:icon_razz

Time to bring the experts in. My car still runs sawblades.

I'm looking at a set of Equips, 18x8 +30 and 18x9 +35. It seems the fronts will stick out 13mm more and the rears 31mm more. What's this going to look like? Is this still playing conservative?

Is 9" enough on the back or should I be looking at 9.5 or 10" ?

Equips are hard to find so I'm just looking at whatever I can find and seeing if they'll work.

Yeah...the 18x8 +30 and 18x9 + 35 are still conservative. Go for 10s in the back.

I have a feeling that guys like BorHor will be setting a trend on breaking that "conservative" mold.

If you guys wanna shop for decently priced, aggressive setups, my350z.com and g35drive.com are the place to be.

hey guys, i played musical wheels today... some cool stuff happened.

before:
Fr- 17x9.5 +50mm MKIV's with Nitto 555R 315/30 DRs. only rubbed the last 1/16th turn before lock. hits front sway bar.
Rr- 16x7 +37mm Sawblades with Maypop's... burned them down everywhere.

After:
Fr- 18x10 +44mm Volk GT-U's with bridgestone S-02 295/35. may rub the fender during compression while turning
Rr- 17x9.5 +50mm MKIV's with Nitto 555R 315/30 DRs... dont seem to rub anything yet.

i wish i was rich... id get 18x10 +47 for the front and 18x11 +50 or +55 custom fitments... and run these same tire sizes, 295/35 and 315/30's except id have wheels that would create a square sidewall fitment.

i gotta run for now but ill post up the pics of the car w/ these wheels

Here are the pics i took. if you want to see them in Large x Huge dimensions, copy and paste the link into a browser and DELETE "medium/" and itll revert to full size.

i was checking these out http://www.discounttiredirect.com/product/wheels/enkev5.hs.xl.jpg

but wanted a better size and i like these they are more expensive though but i like how they look and they have a nice 2 inch lip http://www.axiswheels.com/wheels/hiro/SILVER.jpg

not sure if i want to stagger the fitment though i might just do 18x8.5 all the way around and im not sure of the offset

8.5 is too narrow for the rear. If you don't wanna do a staggered setup, consider setups such as these.

5Zigen PRORACER GN+, 9.5 +38 all around.

yeah... but wheres the lip?

the FNoh-one-nor-see-er whatevers have a pseduo-lip... i just cant stand how the face goes from a low offset to a high offset just to bring the spokes back into the barrel. its a wheel with an identity crisis... plus, they are played.

look at some FR500 wheels in the offsets and width rodel mentioned. its similar to a nice BBS RK with their wide-split 5spoke pattern and its not played out on mk3's yet.

Equips are hard to find so I'm just looking at whatever I can find and seeing if they'll work.

A 9" rim will fit a 265 comfortably and a 275 with some bulge. It all comes down to how much power you are making and how sticky of a tire you would run. Those offsets are very close to mine. The fronts are 5mm further in so you would have no issues running 245's up front and ~265 out back.

I don't think this is too conservative. That is a size you could take to the track and not have to worry about. It will still look amazing and should keep the offset Nazi's off your back. I hate that people are in here giving people shit about not running +10 on a 9" rim. Give it a rest people.

flubyux2: Those widths and offsets only work since your car is so high. They would not work on my car or that of most of the forum.

With such big tires/wheel combos compared to stock, what would the handleing be in comparison?? would they be worse or better?.. we all know the looks are there. would it alter the ride factor, would it make the car 'go all over the road' as in follow all the bumps and make it difficult to manage?

stock would be like 16x7x 225 all round

to say like uno

18x8.5(and above) 245(and bigger) size tires on front?
18x9(and above) 255(and bigger) on the rear?
Or is this a dumb question lol, cheers

Yes, wider tires will make the car more prone to following the road... ifyou enjoy driving non-chalantly with half a hand on the wheel... that will change quickly with wideass tires :biglaugh: It's not difficult to manage, but it certainly keeps you awake and paying attention.

IMO, it makes the ride smoother as that you don't drop into cracks and pot holes, you kinda ride over them cuz the tire's so wide anyway. Wieght however is an issue... wider wheels tend to weigh more, and all things stock, you'll lose some top speed, some acceleration (but you'll get more traction), and possibly increase your braking distance in ideal curcumstances; with a heavier wheel. Note that no situation really is idea, a wider tire means more grip, and more grip equals more braking power on the road... but, my point i'm making is it will take more brake force to stop a heavier wheel from spinning. Kinda irrelavent, but something to know I suppose. Usually the tire is the weak point, not the brakes themselves.

Everything is a trade off.

I'm pretty sure this is a NO

But FR 18x10 -9 and Rr 18x12 -9 wont fit even with rolled fenders huh.

It can be a yes, but the changes made to the car will be irreversable.
I'd say it would be pretty extreme for 99.9% of folks, so a NO is appropriate.

my car will tuck the 315's in the rear with slight fender rolling. no widening/pulling necessary.

the fronts WOULD need pulling to clear the 295's up front.

but for the record, i HAVE cleared 19x10's +50 with 265/30's up front on a lowered supra. the 19x11's with 305/25's with +50 rubbed the strut body but would clear the body with fender lip rolling.

if i could get my rear strut out of the way, i could fit 345's in the back with say, a 12" or 13" rim, about +60mm offset, a little more negative camber and fender lip rolling; No wide body fender. this tire/wheel thing is starting to become an obsession...

I may be picking up Bullet mustang wheels with 245/45/17 in the front and 275/35/17 in the rear... will those fit with no rubs?

Not even close to fitting with a roll. The front will stick out over 2 inches. Rear will stick out over 3 inches. Widebody work will be needed for this.
