I feel like changing my build title to Oh Woe Is Me. The past few days have not been well. My throat is feeling better and I can swallow a lot easier now but the area between my shoulder blades, my right shoulder and arm are giving me fits of excrutiating pain. It's very positional too. If I lean my head forward and push back on my forehead the pain goes away. I tried a little extra pain meds last night and quit breathing everytime I fell asleep so then I'd wake up gasping. I was so out of it I didn't realize what was going on till later this morning. I won't be doing that again. I'm trying to hold out till my doctors appt tomorrow and don't want to go to the ER. This just plain sucks. I'm sure a nerve is just inflammed but I do worry something else might be wrong and they'll have to go back in. It's made me an asshole about everything too.

Ok, just needed to whine a little while. Can't whine to my wife cause of instead of being consoling she'll just counter with her own aches and pains. Shit I have had to listen to every fucking day for the past 19 years. You should hear her and her mother together. It's a true pissin contest to see who's ailing more. Her mother always wins.

I was told I was lucky because I had no need for surgery, because the recovery from neck surgery is very painful and lasts a good while. I don't want to scare you Ken, this is just what my UPS driver told me after his recent neck surgery. I'll be praying for you my friend. I know first hand exactly what position you are in relieving pain too. My shoulder pains do better if I sleep flat on my back, with my head not propped up very far at all. I just don't sleep well like that.

I'm not scared, just frustrated. A best friend of mine had the same surgery in Nov and did real well afterwards. I'm thinking he just didn't complain to anyone. So I had that perception of how I'd do which was very naive. He's on his way over to take me to the doctor so I'm going to bitch at him:icon_bigg If I try to sleep on my back it takes my wife and kids to help me up. I was going to need the surgery sooner or later that's for sure so I'm glad I'm getting it out of the way now. With C7 being ruptured into my cord, I was at a high risk of permanent nerve damage.

I have a phobia of surgery...

I had a phobia too. It was actually kinda cool how just in a minute after getting Versed in my IV the next thing I remember is waking up in recovery. I remember being wheeled into the OR and moving to the table and that was it. Good drugs!

Thanks everybody for well wishes and prayers. I've got to get ready to go. I'll keep yall updated.

Ken

hey I had my major surgery's before, had my upper and lower jaw cut and re fitted with hip bone and permanent titanium plates in my skull. I know its a bad trip to go down but you know its worth it or you wouldn't have done it in the first place.

keep your strength up man, your doing good.

Ouchy!

Just got home from my doctors appt. He's worried I might need to have some more surgery to fix a nerve root problem on the right side. I went straight from his office to the hospital to have a CT done and I will go back to see him Wednesday morning. The other problem might be severe inflammation of the nerve after putting everything back where's it's supposed to be. Let's hope that's the problem.

I was wrong about the hardware I have now. I have one plate and 6 screw, not 2 plates and 8 screws. It's one long plate. I saw it on the CT films. Kinda wierd looking.

Anyway, later, I'm going to drug myself up and the wife and I are going to meet friends and go to the Bon Jovi concert in Dallas tonight. We've had tickets to this for almost 6 months so I'm not missing it, no matter how uncomfortable I am.

Why don't I remember this??? Damn buddy I can truly empathise. Just by looking at the silouette of your face in the x ray, the surgery helped your chin and jawline. How is everything now? I'll have to search your threads. I can't believe I don't remember this. I'm old and have had good drugs since then.:biglaugh:

EDIT- I found your thread and remember this now. You were having a bad day.

On a lighter note:

I snuck off in my car for a few minutes and boosted. Yeah, if felt good and made me feel better. Driving is a no no for me now so don't tell, shhhh!

Maybe that lower Alabamy person should come get it to keep me outta trouble. While he's got it, I'll give him a list of things to fix. I should be getting sympathy repairs done at sympathy costs!!!!

lol, always clears the head just by jumping in the supra for a few, I know that very well.

no worries on forgetting. right now I have my braces off, a clear retainer with a fake tooth graphed until I get a implant. going back for my lower retainer tomorrow. so its going good. just still trippy looking back since I posted the pics a while ago and thinking damn I walked into the operation room for this, I did it myself. very scary knowing your jaw will never be the same. but hey I bite with all my teeth never been able to do that my whole life till now.

just I lost 20 lbs from having my jaw wired shut and using the blender and your only means to eat. trying to force stuff passed the cracks between your teeth to eat is horrible. lol makes me shake thinking about it. a few weeks with your jaw wired makes you see things differently.

Ok. Lucky for me I won't need anymore surgery. My CT showed everything normal. My problem is pretty acute nerve inflammation so I've got a prednisone pack (steroids) and some muscle relaxers to hopefully clear that up. Dr. Smith said my body is trying to adjust to the new geometry of my neck. I had a good night last night sleeping. I still can't sleep on my back yet but I'm getting there. Doc told me I don't have to use that damn neck brace anymore.

I can drive fine now so I'm rescending that statement.

Today is my 16th wedding anniversary so I'm off to meet the wife for lunch.

Yes I did make it to the Bon Jovi concert and it was awesome!

Ok, back to car stuff. Here is the elbow and heat shield I ended up going with. I was going to post this stuff a long time ago but kept forgetting.

I have to tell you, after driving the car for a few hours and stopping, I can still put my finger on the heatshield and not burn myself. The short section of soft hose going into the 3000 pipe is only lukewarm. I can't believe how low the under hood temp is.

Here is the link to the thread I bought it from. BEWARE!! It will take you to SupraForums.:biglaugh:

Too Late! My henchmen have already been paid, and are on the way to make the pick up. You are hobbled, so I doubt you han handle all 4 of them. And just think of the pain you will feel if you try to fire a gun.
