I picked up a can of this stuff today. So will one can do a set of wheels? And if so, will it do 2 sets?

Going to answer your PM now Ken

One can should do one set of wheels only and that's if it all comes off with the first application. You might have to do some follow up applications but that's a big MIGHT. You really need to saturate the rim.

looks really nice.. any rust on that blue car?? wHYYY sell the 89??! lol

No rust, just the front bumper is a little f'ed up.
I sold the 89 to have money to fix the 87 and also I have unsympathetic wife. One of them had to go and I fell for the gay blue one. I have to resurrect it.

Well some parts I ordered came in yesterday so I did some work today. First I replaced the the little rubber hatch bumpers so maybe one day when I get to drive it, the hatch will not rattle. I also put new bushings on the the gearshift so it longer wobbles back and forth. Then I took out the instrument panel and replaced the lens with one that's not cracked. I also replaced the vents since the originals were no longer fully functional. Replaced the black bezel thing above the instrument cluster since original was cracked in half. I put the new console I got for it in also. I left off the TEMS switch since I probably won't be going with that option. I found out today that the console lids (armrest) for 86.5-88 are different than 89+. I was wanting to attach that cupholder to my 87 lid and it doesn't work, so I will get my 89 lid recovered so I can have the cup holders. Now for some pictures.

Torn apart. Steering wheel looks like shit. I will order some new leather for it soon and sew it on myself.

With new console. Note no TEMS

Partially put back together. I ran out of daylight. Can you spot the other upgrade I did today?

Ok, well I got the engine out today. I didn't remove all the transmission fluid so it looked like a mass murder had taken place under the car. I've got a question though. When taking the auto transmission off, how do you unbolt the torque converter? I'm used to GM vehicles where there's a part of the bellhousing on the underside that you can remove to expose the torque converter. I don't see anything like that on this setup.

The real kicker was that while pushing the car back and forth to loosen the engine up, one of the plugs on the wiring harness got smashed to smithereens under the front tire. Damn the luck. I'm hoping I can fix it with another plug. Here are some pics.

My engine and tranny hanging there. That's my son watching in awe.

Empty engine bay at long last. Now I can start cleaning that up.

My friend and co worker, who knows nothing about cars, proudly standing next to our bleeding "kill". I'm the dork on the right.

You should get a grip now, before that garage starts to look like mine. Then you'll have to worry about turning an ankle if you need to get to something in the back.

Good work..............and nice new lift. Let me know how well it rolls that motor into the garage (while lifted).

The garage is standing room only for the most part. I do have trails through it. One must leave bread crumbs navigating through it. I did get it all in there though. I lowered the motor all the way down then pulled the lift in over the edge. I then had my friend Dustin start jacking it up again while I lifted the transmission and he pulled back and it was in.

I just finished draining the water/oil/sludge from the pan. It looked like the motor was taking a slow crap for a while. I can't wait to see what it looks like on the inside.:nono:

Yes, I still do work for them. It's my part time job that pays for my Supra needs. Where do you recognize me from?

Edit after PM: Good to hear from you Craig!

Actually, I have put new floor mats in. I'm waiting on the new leather for the steering wheel, should be here tomorrow. I ordered too big last time and had to send back. It has no motor or transmission but it's gonna look good just sitting there!

Here's what's left of the plug I crushed while removing the motor. Anybody have a clue to which sensor it went to. I don't.

Here's a hint.........but a bit too late

It's easier to remove the motor with the harness on it. Then you can put it back on the motor out of the car. That may have saved that plug as well, but bygones are bygones.

Well Mr. Smarty Pants (;) ) here's what I had to work with. Remember?

Motor will be reassembled on the stand WITH the harness for easy installation.

I finally motivated myself to put the dash and console back together. My 89+ ac control looks good. I decided to put the TEMS switch back in until I decide what kind of suspension to put on it.
p622448_1.jpg

I took a front view pic of it to show how jacked up my nose piece or header panel, what every you call it is. The bumper was originally bent up pretty back but I straightened that out. I just need to get a lower grill.

Ugh! They just blew up a shit green MKIII on Reno 911! I know it's been talked about before here but this is the first time I've seen it.
Anyway, finally got my steering wheel covered. I think I did a shitty job but it looks better than it did.

Got the engine loaded up and ready to take to Christian at DFW Supras.
