Well went by the junkyards today and found everything I was looking for. Hopefully Wednesday I'll be able to go pick up the hatch, bumper, center console, and some misc other stuff. I'll post up some pics when I get them. Also went by the machine shop to talk about my block. They are hoping the cylinder walls are not pitted due to the rust. If they are then it will require reboring. He guestimated about 600 bucks to do a shortblock rebuild with the block being resurfaced as well. That's if they can just rehone the cylinder walls. I'm keeping the exterior appearence true to it's year model. There was a mint condition red 89+ bumper but I passed for a black 88.

Well I have some pictures. I bought a hatch for the glass and a glass company is coming over tomorrow morning to install it.:icon_bigg
I got all the parts out of the trunk finally and vacuumed it. To my suprise there was not that much water in there from all the storms we recently had. I bought some other stuff that I'll post pictures of later.

Can you see where the exhaust manifold was sitting.

I stripped the sawblades and they turned out very nice.

Close inspection reveals that the car has been repainted and wrecked at one time in the right rear quarter panel. Not bad enough to earn a salvage title though. The paint is a result of average prep work so it's flaking in some places but overall looks pretty well. The front lip and bumper need some work but I'm hoping to be able to correct that without having to replace them. More pictures of stuff tomorrow.

Well I got the hatch glass replaced today.:icon_bigg That takes a lot of worry out of the picture. I bought a hatch out of the junk yard and had a glass company come out and swap them.

I bought a center console out of a junked car and cleaned it up. The one in my car is kinda contorted out of sorts from all the parts that were stuffed inside the car. I'll swap it when I swap the instrument panel bezel and lens.

so I'm assuming you removed the tires from the rims when stripping them correct?

I'm sure he didn't, because I stripped mine also and didn't need to remove the tire. Masking them off would help, but you don't really need to take them off.

No you do not have to take the tire off the rim. Just take the wheel off the car. The current tires on my car are old so I didn't bother masking them off.

Well I'm gonna give this a whirl. I'm taking my wheels off the white car to put on the red car. The deal I worked out with James on the white car was with sawblades. I'm gonna try to make them look as good as possible for him.

Post some pics when you're done. I want to see how they turned out. Just be sure and take the wheels off the car first ;). Saturate the wheels with this stuff and let it set for about 5-10 minutes, then spray off with water.
