It's easy as hell to skip a plan to lay under the car. My least favorite part of working on my car is jacking that son of a bitch up and getting stands placed. What you had planned requires jacking up both ends of the car for VERY little actual work. You may as well break loose the fuel lines while you are under there and pull the nuts off the motor mounts too. You will feel much closer once those few little things are done.

Did you at least break your shifter loose while you had the stereo bezel pulled???????

Fuel lines and motor mounts are already taken care of as well as the shifter. What I had wanted to do today would have been the last things needed to be able to pull the motor and tranny.

I DO NOT want to get underneath that car. I have never liked it, even as a kid I was always scared to be underneath them. Maybe tomorrow.

The only thing different than what I was expecting was that the leather is not as soft as I had hoped for. So I have some Macquires leather conditioner that I will be applying frequently to hopefully soften them up some. I want to say thanks to reaperman for taking the time and effort to ship these heavy things to me.

So what do you think? Any suggestions on how to soften up the leather? I mean it's not like they are rock hard but I would like it a little more supple. I know I can't achieve Lexus quality. :icon_bigg

Ken just read a thread by a pro and this is what he used results were very good on dry leather. I use saddle soap myself buy always looking for better methods. :naughty:

"Leather cleaned with Woolite diluted 4:1 and scrubbed. Dressed with Lexol Conditioner x2 and Four Star Ultimate Leather Conditioner x2"

jugodegolfs detailing secrets $19.99. for you ken I'll trade for a couple of margaritas at tx2k8.:biglaugh:

It might be cheaper to just give you 20 bucks!:icon_razz

Well I made some actual progress today. Instead of f-ing around with the speakers I finally got the motor ready to pull. All it needs now is a chain on the hooks and some lift. I put the ass end up on jack stands, removed the tranny mount, speedo cable, and last ground wire. I also disconnected the exhaust but I had to do it on the backside of the CAT. I have to wonder if that's not the original exhaust. The bolts just broke off. Also diconnected the carrier bearing.

I was smart this time and drained the transmission so now I won't have a bloody mess all over the driveway like when I pulled the motor from the blue one. Surprisingly, the fluid was very clear and clean looking. I have to work tomorrow so maybe Tuesday I can at least have this one pulled.:x:

I wish my Supra was that color,
It's looking great, just don't let the Supra down!!

I'm going to see this one through. I've put more effort into this one than any other. Besides, I like the thought of owning a first model year supra.

OK, I'll quit crying now! I won't make y'all have to hear it.

Seriously, when I went to Chicago, I had to choke back tears when I saw that beautiful grey car at the first event. I can't remember his name right now, but he certainly deserves credit. I will update this post as soon as I remember his name.

Boosted, I'll PM you later about that dash. I haven't been ignoring you.

Ok, first off I'm going to have to rant:rant: WARNING-Foul language ahead.
If you tell somebody you are going to go over to their house and help them do something and you later decide not to or something comes up, for God's sake have the fucking decency to pick up the damn phone and call them to let them know. My douchebag friend (same friend in post 46) that I work with on shift told me yesterday and this morning when we got off work, he'd come over to help me pull the motor from my car. He was going to be down my way giving another friend of ours some tropical fish. Well after waiting hours I called the other friend to see if he had heard from Douchebag, and to my (not)surprise, Douchebag is over there. Mo-fo never bothered to call.

Anyway, with a little bit of help from my wife, and I do mean little bit (she hates my car), I got that SOB out of there.

I found something interesting that I haven't seen before. It's not a fuel filter. I've never seen a vacuum canister there before.

Ok, for multiple reasons, I am very pressed for time to get the other motor in so I am not going to mess around with trying to clean up the engine bay right now. I'll just have to do later on sometime. Right now I just don't give a damn.

Nice work Ken! You should give the wife credit, mine would never touch mine. Well at least nothing but the glass or tires. It's a standing deal. If anything happens to her cat (I wouldn't do that.......REALLY!), something will happen to the Supra.

You really should at least spend 30 minutes with a bottle of degreaser and a hose with a sprayer at least on that engine bay. You'll be glad you did.
