You do realize that those springs are heavily engineered. Any modification other than compressing them drastically changes the properties of the springs. I've ridden in a car with cut springs before and I wasn't impressed to say the least. Worst ride ever.

I bet your car rides like shit now. Congrats!

Give it about a month or so and wait until your shocks blow. You'll really hate life.

A decent suspension setup is not expensive. $400 got me 4 new Tokico Blue struts and Eibach Sportline lowering springs brand new.

Reason #1280 why the A70 Supra will never have the same respect as when its early years. Cheap owners doing cheap mods and being praised for it.

Cheap out on one part of your car and you're likely to cheap out on others and you end up with a car full of cheap compromises.

"when a civic owner buys a supra"

thankfully though all of these types of members will no longer exist in a few months because another "cost effective" mod will send their car to the junker or on blocks.

but no i dont see anything wrong with this mod, its not like the rest of us who have actually had a running supra for 5+ years have never seen cut springs on a car and the affects it has on it. IJ pinpointed it exactly, pogo stick.

please dont flame me TODAY but i cut my springs on my car and personally it did not turn out to be that bad it looks really good and sits just right but this is onlt a temporary fix for now until i get enough saved up for some megan coilovers

It's technically tomorrow now!

Why not use a stock set of springs, and run 4 rear struts on the car for a lowered front appearance without compromising driveability? That is a cheap way out.

Wow, you went to all that effort? Taking the springs out, cutting them, putting them back in? If you were going to hack it anyway, just heat them up with a torch until they sag more. Try not to light the car on fire at the same time of course, but this way you can be extra lazy, you don't have to remove them from the car at all!

hell I have a suspension design book around here somewhere that give you proper instrucsions on how to cut your spings. As long as the spings are linear the results are very predictable and can provide a decent ride.

many people here are offending and can not even work in their own car, they offend but i bet they would do the same if they could do it or have the money to pay someone to do it for them, but most 16 years old boys dont even have the money to pay for it.
I like your car man, it`s a way to start to make it look pretty

Today it's cut springs, next week it's "My car won't run and is leaking, what happened? My mods are AFM screw mod, exhaust, PVC IC pipes,BOV, 16psi. oh, and I have no fan shroud and never checked the head gasket to see if it's torqued correctly."

Cut springs may not be a huge deal but the same mentality leads to other cheap ass ownership decisions that causes major problems. lowering springs is one of the most inexpensive things that will come up while owning a Supra. These cars are old. If you can't afford 300-500 dollars for some springs and shocks, what are you going to do when you need to fix the HG or rebuild or do normal ROUTINE maintenence that is likely to come up with a car this old. Justifying cut springs because you're strapped for money is retarded. Anyone disagreeing is part of the cheap ass MK3 owner problem, not the solution.

When I had my first Supra and it was stock height and I wanted to lower it, I didn't be a cheapass and cut the springs. I left it as it was until I found a solution. I was young and couldn't afford it. I ended up getting some lowering springs from a friend because I helped him do some work. And another friend helped me install them because I hadn't done it before.

You're right. Most young guys don't even have the money to spend on mods. Which is the precisely why there are so many Supras look like shit and run like shit. They don't have the money to buy a decent example, then their shitbox example of a Supra doesn't get better because they can't afford it, it gets shittier. They can afford the low shit entry fee of a shit example of an A70 Supra but can't afford to own it.

Shit owners buying shit examples of the Supra and giving it shit mods, shit maintenence, and don't really give a shit if the car looks like shit have ruined the image of the A70 Supra.

Luckily, the number of people who actually give a shit and have or had decent cars has been growing in the last few years I've noticed. I've noticed an increasing number of Supras who don't have shit owners.

Call it what you want but the MKIV doesn't have this problem nearly as bad because a big majority of the owners don't give their cars shit mods and shit maintenence. Unfortunately for that car, shit owners have been getting their hands on them more often and shit MKIVs are not as rare anymore.

Quoted for truth.

I haven't cheaped out at all on my supra. I love when people go O.O you paid 1200 for a non running supra. I said It has no rust and a mint interior, and i'm happy. (The Asking Price was 2500 and I did the Famous MK3 Low Ball But I'm Happy) My Rebuild and Transmission swap has hit 4 digits a while back and i just smile because i know it'll make me smile when it's running.

I also like to contest what Joe says MK4 owners don't get in the spot light because they don't post when they blow their Head Gaskets or blow their motors and quietly send them off to Sound Performance or who have ya, and cut them a check and have it fixed with the works. I'm also sure they have ghetto mods out there but not cut springs because even cutting one coil ruins the delicate engineering for the spring. :)

OP: You do know theres Intercoolers on ebay that have same side exits? Adding that Bend at the end is not smart. :nono:
