Duane... Did you let the cat out of the bag because you couldn't contain your excitment anylonger? Premature autojackulation??

Now the cat's out of the bag.............:nono:

I know Duane, and I bet this car will be built bigger and better than before. He'll have to wait until next year to attend Vegas, but it should be worth the wait.

Good luck to the rest of the guys, and I guess my little prayer didn't help protect Duane's car.

I am SURE that if a HG popped, he could re machine the block and head, with a new HG on there before vegas, with getting 1k miles on it babying it.

I can't imagine how much money he's spent already trying to get ready for Vegas. There's got to be an end to the funds somewhere in sight. I think he's got some bigger plans than just a hg replacement though.

Wow, go figure. Duane, let us know how it popped. I'm really curious to know what caused it - especially on your highly built and tuned motor.

detonation, just like on a stock supra, unless it wasn't properly prepped.

If the HG went on that motor I'm sure there is going to be more damage then just a HG.

I would bet he leaned it out, maybe ran out of fuel or somthing along those lines.

I'm sure this thread is going to die now as Duane was the only one really smack talking on here LOL.

Hey guys... Check these out...

trophies.jpg

The two tall trophies on the left are the first and second place trophies for the MkIII Smackdown. The taller one is 3' tall.

I suspect it leaned out for some reason, at least that is what the damage is telling. The log Duane got was just jibberish, but he was doing some electrical repairs before this run so that may contribute to the log. He mentioned the car feeling way faster and spooling faster than ever right before this happened, so again it points to perhaps it was running lean.

We are talking about getting the head welded, new h/g and still make Vegas. The pistons took some heat but look useable from the pics I saw. I hope it can be put together and run still at SILV. Then this winter do something bigger and better.

A new fuel pump is certainly in order, as we knew we were pushing close to the limits of the one he had (but on the dyno had no issue with it, even on the spray).

Man that really sucks, been there before though. Hope you can get it together for Vegas. Good Luck.
