I recommend a good sandblasting for those rear knuckles - and be prepared to spend some time on them...it takes a long, long time to get them clean...

here is some inspiration: My rear end went from this:

to this:

I finally rebuilt and installed my mk4 rear brakes on my car - size-wise they match up pretty well with the ARZ front kit.

Nice to see another rusty supra get saved.

Nicely done, Adam. :) I see you also polished the upper a-arms. :) Are they new, or just polished? Either way, they look great!

I also picked up all new hardware for the entire subframe. No old stuff will be used!

I need to settle on what swaybars I'm going with. Time to have another chat with Wiisass. ;)

Your pic reminded me, I also need to pick up new e-brake cables! Thanks for the inspiration! I'm almost there. Just waiting on powdercoating of the hubs. :)

^ Yep, that's what's taking me so long. Also, I'm building my own suspension pieces using Heim joints, as I likely mentioned above. I need to get off my lazy kick, and take some measurements so I can order the parts!

i ended up buying some rust remover stuff from home depot and poured it into a 5 gallon bucket.i submerged the hub's into the stuff and left them soak for a long time.they came out nice and clean like fresh cast piece's.this was alot easier then doing it with my sandblaster because the rust was real heavy.i did end up blasting them after because i think the powdercoat has a stronger bond.you can kinda see in the pic's that the backing plate's on the rear hub's had some heavy rust.the powder doesn't really fill in the heavy pitting, even though the piece's were primed, colored, and then cleared

Those look great. I'm going all black with mine. Less visible brake dust. ;) I can't wait. Thanks for posting the pics!

Just polished....and not the best job at that - I just wanted to smooth them out and clean them up.

Now that I think about it, one of the arms was next-to-new (came off my parts car with the toyota sticker still attached)

The new hardware makes a big difference when putting the subframe back together - heres a hint for you, get yourself a bottle of copper anti-seize and give the bolts a liberal coating, especially where they fit into the bushings. It will make future alignments much easier and should prevent the bolts from seizing into the bushings.

Gotcha, that's why I polished mine- just to make them easier to clean. Wipe 'em down, and you're done! They're too porous in stock form.

Oh yeah, that's why I refuse to put any of the old stuff back on, and I'm one step ahead of you with the anti-seize. ;) I have some left from when I did the front lower control arms in Nylon. ;) The alignment tech loved me for it!

Get this thing on the road ;) I just spent like 2 hours reading every single post in this thread and its very impressive what youve done on that car. You better keep it forever! and then leave it to someone who will take as good care of it as you have! I wish i had the space/motivation/time to do this on any car. I just got a white 91 firebird tpi with t tops. Its almost the car ive always wanted (89 for no air bag and a better front end) But i think its going to go through a process like yours. I just need a garage!

And here I thought my thread slipped away into the depths of the forum. LOL.

I've got parts on order, and should probably update this thread pretty soon. I'm getting a welder, and plan to learn to weld, then install a new trunk pan. LOL. (or grab my cousin to do it if I'm not comfortable) I'll probably never sell it, and if I do, it'll get parted out.

haha, dont sell it ever! when do you expect/plan to have it on the road? ever get the new body parts finished up? By what i read i figured the fenders and all that are still off. And btw, what the hell do you do for work that you have the money AND energy to make all this possible? Takes some superman-like power, imo! kudos to you

Wow, Shaeff.

Any tips for pushing pushing bushings out? ;)

For some of them I used a press, for the rear upper control arms, I used two sockets of different sizes (one slightly smaller than the bushings, one larger) and did it all in the vice in my garage. :) Be careful, and take your time!

Unless I'm seriously forced to, I don't see myself selling this car. The original plan was to put it on the road for this summer, but if I want to do this right, I have no projected completion date anymore. When it's done, it's done. :)

Body panels still off, but the new doors are on. Hood, fenders, front fascia is all still off.

I work for a large liquor distributor doing inventory control. ;) It takes a lot of my time/energy, so I actually don't get to work on the car as often as I'd like!

I never even saw this build thread. Man from the starting pictures looks like you have / had your work cut out for you.

I'd just skip to the GT35R if I were you! :).

LOL, yeah, it's usually hiding in the depths of the forum. ;) I certainly do have my work cut out for me. Soon enough, I'll be cutting out the trunk pan and welding in a new one. :)

I'd seriously like to skip straight to the GT35r, and have everything to do so except the turbo, but I'd like to wait for the time to actually build a motor for it. (probably a stock rebuild of a different '90+ block)- then go from there. But if I pop this turbo, I'll just buy the GT35r and save this current turbo (after rebuild) for my '94 Toyota Pickup. ;)
