I did the same thing to my interior in my silver supra. The painted plastics look good until you scratch them up. And your car looks just like mine. IS300 rims and all. The rims look better with a round cap instead of the lexus center cap. IMO

Ok some info on the motor.

Came out of a 01 IS300...
is VVTI
Has a 05 harness with it, with the auto tranny.
Has 83K miles on it
umm.....looks like its going to be pretty fun to put in.

Things i need to figure out.
1. Ignition
2. Mounting
3. Converting to 5 speed
4. Hooking up AC & PS.... :D lol
5. Make sure my 1 peice DS will fit.. :D
6. Look into getting my gauge cluster to work with the new motor
7. Cooling system

Things to buy
1. Bellhousing
2. Flywheel & ARP hardware
3. Motor brakets and mounts (polyurathane)

So if anyone has some tips on any of these things, I am open to every thing. Really interested in getting the 5 speed part and ignition parts figred out.

Thanks guys

Ok so I got to taking some pics today, while trying to dodge the rain, and got some things in order. i.e. cleaning my carport, and cleaning up the motor a little, also took a bunch of pics, so here they are.

What I started the day with

Took of the VVTI cover, and found this little guy
(Also found one on the starter later that night but didn't get a pic of it)

All back together

Got the tyranny of also, cause i'm not going to use it.

sm_photo_missing.jpg

You tell me which one is never going to be used again lol

sm_photo_missing.jpg

But after the tyranny got taken off, I realized I don't have a socket big enough to go around the crank bolt, So I have to wait to remove the torque converter and flywheel off till I can go shopping for Sockets :) Other then that I had fun with my first day with the 2J.

Until tomorrow :biggrinbo

So im having some problems with finding a mid/rear sump oil pan. And im not wanting to drop 600 into a new one. So i guess thats the only thing im waiting for right now....other then that its going to be figuring out this wiring nightmare that came out of the IS300. Anyone know of a site that names all the plugs? Or has pictures of all the plugs? Other then Google of course.....like out online TSRM.

wouldn't it have been easier to get a 2jz out of a sc300. dont they also use the rear sump oil pans too? i know the sc300's also came in vvti. i think the only issue you would have had with the sc 2jz would be the wiring nightmare.

i mean this is a good point but I picked up the whole setup for 700$, and after selling the tranny, ECU, flywheel and torqe converter, i only spent 200$

Only things im in need of are the oil pan, mounts, 1Jz flywheel and bell housing. I was told if I purchase a 2JZ-GE M/T ECU that its should work with the auto harness, just some plugs wont be used. and should be loomed around and out of the way. But until I can find a used oil pan, i'm at a stand still.....

Ok So i got my hands on Brand new 98' TT motor mounts. They mount up perfectly to the 89 + sub-frame. So i'm probably going to have it in by this weekend, hopefully. So pics will follow. Also I have figured i'm going to try and get my hands on a MK4 Cable Throttle Body, and get rid of the IS300 electronic Throttle Body. Hopefully the ECU doesn't trip on me for that, but we will find out :)
