I have been researching the MS3 a bit but didn't know they had a pnp plug available. This is making my choice much easier.

Plug and play is for MS2 and it is not exactly PnP. It just has the right connector for the engine harness. The rest you have to figure out for yourself.

To me that's what you want. Making an engine harness is a PIA.. So which one are you going to get JStoked?

Boost cut, AFR tracking, fuel pressure drop, oil pressure drop, cylinder misfire indicator, sensor faults, adaptive knock control, rev limiter, valet option and all of these will trigger a check engine light when conditions are met.

I have seen Megasquirt but there has been so much more advancement in the EMS world, it would be a waste to go with anything else besides a EMS unit.

MS2 and 3 is capable of doing most of that, if not all. MS is definitely not lagging behind in the EMS world.

It really doesn't matter what ems you go with as long as it has the ability to control everything properly and reliably for a particular setup. The engine will only run as good as good as the tuner can tune it.

Yes, MS has some pnp options for some cars if you want to pay a little extra. :)

I highly reccomend Megasquirt.
I started from scratch and from starting building the kit to running 11's at the track within 2.5 months or so working on it on and off.

I can tell you how to wire the IACV and how to get it to work properly. Very easy once I figured it out! (I did the hard work for you, lol)

It is so satisfying building a computer yourself and then hearing it run for the first time :)
I have been tuning mine myself on a dyno and it has worked out great so far

Don't do the plug n play, just do it yourself!

Please shoot me a pm on how you did this or share with everyone. I have a few ideas in my head but working the IACV out has kept me from pulling the trigger. Any info would be great.

I am in the planning stages of running MS. I wanted to try assembling a circuit board, so I ordered a much cheaper test piece, and assembled that. See that centipede thing on the left, that was supposed to be soldered to the board, instead of the processor. So i may have fried it. Meh...

You have got to be kidding..... I have been researching for days on how to control these stepper motors. Do share, sir.

I had no idea there was so much MS action here. The few threads that are here about MS, are not very active.

Man you guys are lucky I'm willing to share all my hard work!!!
I got it to work great, just use my rough setting from the previous pics I posted on the last page in tunerstudio.
Basically, the Stock IACV is a unipolar stepper motor, and the MS can not control that, and really, it is very simple to make it work like a bipolar stepper motor that the MS CAN control! I took the time to draw a before and after diagram for all of you, and what wires go where if you don't want to figure that out yourself

p1800456_2.jpg

and here are some rough setting to get it to work halfway decent, in case you missed it on the last page

I HIGHLY recommend keeping a log of the wiring you do when you build and what you wire to!!!! Otherwise, you will be totally screwed if something goes wrong, and you don't remember what goes where. Plus, you can share your findings with others like I am doing!
Here is a few pages of the log I kept, mainly I just documented what extra circuits I added, and I drew a circuit of the boost control circuit inside the MS case as well.

This last picture may have the coil packs in the wrong firing order, I dont remember if I corrected it or not. You can figure it out!

I hear people talk bad about megasquirt all the time, and to all those people, you are either too stupid to do some research and figure things out for yourself, or you are just afraid of it.
If you know how to solder (and hopefully are good at it), and can follow directions and do research, then you can most likely figure it out. If you have to ask questions every single step of the way, and know 0 about electronics and wiring, then don't waste your time or mine.
I have heard so many people say that MS will never idle like factory, that they never run right, nothing ever works. Well, you must have some sort of handicap
Here is my first startup video people.... Horrible right?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUl54Zvel_4

And after a making a quick VE map on the dyno, and taking some quick educated guesses on timing(only because of time constraints) I just took it to the track for a shakedown run, just launching it easy, no 2 step. and I think it ended up pretty good for a shakedown. Had a lil hiccup in 4th gear, but other than that it was smooth sailing. I still have a lot of tuning left to do this year.

No problem guys!
<---- Likes going fast
I'd like to help you all do the same!

EDIT:
I just wanted to add a little bit more info here.

I used-
- OEM 7m CPS in 12-1 (24-2) mode, you can also use it in 24-1 as only a cam position sensor. I had to move the inductive pickup a little bit closer to the wheel, took about 5 seconds.
-OEM 7mgte Coilpacks with, and ditched the factor garbage ignitor and just made my own ignitors
-OEM Coolant temp sensor
-OEM Idle air control valve
-OEM Throttle position sensor
-no need to use the cold start injector
-E-fan controlled by Megasquirt (becasue of space limitations with my swap)
-GM air intake temp sensor
-Boost control solenoid controlled my Megasquirt
-Added a launch control circuit, and running MS extra software. You can not use 2 step or flat shift if you use the Ford EDIS-6 setup like a lot of people use, becasue it defaults to 10 deg of timing with signal is dropped.

Speedfreak426 how does the launch control work? Also I'm going to be using the 1ZZ-FE coils, will I encounter much grief. Also can you stage nitrous.. I have more questions but I'm going to read some more and see if I can figure it out. I may buy my unit in a few weeks. Thanks man... I'm not going to lie I'm a bit intimidated with this but I'm going to go MegaSquirt here is another thread on CelicaSupra. Everything doesn't make sense that I'm reading:confused: yet. http://www.celicasupra.com/forums/showthread.php?25059-Megasquirt-thread

Glad to hear you got the stock CPS to work. All I have heard is people either going with a 36-1 wheel on the crank or hacking the CPS to use only one pick up. It is awesome that you are using it in stock form.
