not biased here or anything, but I really like the red the best with the SM logo. To me it makes the most sense. People see the car, come to suprmania see the red banner, it just has a certain amount of continuity.

I also think Tissmo has a good point about the idea of get it making passes then upgrade. Hell with it making passes might even be able to attract at least a junior sponsor.

Besides Im lousy at delaying gratification.

Red paint ways tooooo much. Everyone knows that blue metallic is the lightest color of them all which in turns gives us better numbers at the track.............:biglaugh:

Here is my point on that---- It cost way more to build once, then to upgrade later with better stuff, then to just go with the good stuff the first time.

If I prep the block for 500 hp, buy a 500 hp turbo, 500hp fuel, 500 hp ecu, 500 hp tranny, then just to turn around and do it all over again for 800 to 1000 hp, it will cost nearly twice as much. Sure we could save money by going small on a turbo to get started. But the diffrence between a 600hp and a 1000 hp turbo is only 500 bucks. I am going to build a 1000hp tranny, a 1000hp block and head, and 1500hp fuel the first time around.

Even if the lesser items where sold in order to upgrade, you would lose money on the sale vrs what it cost when it was purchased new.

The only solution to getting it on the track fast, would be to add some stuff to the stock motor that is in the car now, put a 1000hp tranny behind it with the good fuel system, and run it untill it blows. Then in the meantime, the new motor may be half done. I would need to find a good used turbo that could do 500 hp for this, some injectors, and a maft pro or stinger/megasquirt.

We don't really need a jr sponsor, every one who wants to help is the jr sponsor. I want everyone who contributes to have the say in what goes on with the car, not some outside the community sponsor.

I think it would be fair for everyone involved, to have their vote count based on their level of involvement.

I like the red, maroon, or green color. Anything that is a darker color. But please remember! This car is maroon now. Anyone who has ever done bodywork and painted cars will tell you how much of a pain it is to change colors. Since I will be the one painting the car, it will stay red or maroon unless some help shows up at the door.

Here is what we would need to get it on the track with a temp. set up just to get some 1/4 mile passes down.

Damper pully
walbro
vpc or maft pro
tranny and torque converter
water pump
550 injectors and clips
intercooler and hard pipes
bov
turbo that will do 500 hp - one with good resale value, bolt on or t-4 depending on which manifold we can source cheap
header and waste gate if t-4, or ported to hell stock maniflod with a bolt on turbo
gm shifter and drive shaft front yoke
fpr, fuel gauge, braided lines.

this should be enough to get us into the tens to start.
Most items should be used to save money.

What do we think? I am all for doing an easy temporary set up to get it on the track. This would give me more time to build the real motor. As long as we did not spend money on something that we should have just got the better item first.

Got some turbo ideas here to think about.

I can get a temp turbo gt4088 brand new for pretty cheap, I know it is not he best turbo out there for 5-600hp but the price is so right on these that they are hard to pass up. I have a hks short runner that it will fit on in my shop, all I would need is the hks style wastegate for the manifold. What kind of bolt on turbo can be had for the cost of a gt4088 and a hks replica wastegate?

The permanent turbo, I was thinking of a gt45r or gt4202 with a 1.15a/r in a t-4 frame.

gt4088s are what? 750? 'hks' gate = 50-60 on ebay? so 800 on a bolt on.. can be had, but A t4 solution I think would be a lot better.. gt4088 will make 600-700whp.. should last for a while for us and would be a better solution. We should be able to mid 10s out of just boost with the turbo, maybe 9s with some juice.. it should be enough for a while.. we need a lot of other items to get to that point anyways.

I think that this is an awesome idea for a build and that if this goes well, it'll really help out the community. When my financial situation gets better, I'll probably donate some money, not a lot(college kid budget), but some because I'd love to see where this goes. Definitely subscribed to this thread though.

aznwaterboy - Thank you - anything at all would be a help.

Tissimo - What do you think about twin ct-26's. In stock form they should do 500+ and are internally gated. Later tey could be upgraded to a 57 trim each and may do 800. I could get a manifold made up for them, I have two decent ct26's laying around the shop.

like I said before I got a water pump I can send.

possibility:
I got 5 Denso 550's (I bought these a while ago and discovered that one is cracked) They are the RX7 195500-1370's and if someone could find one more then we got 6.

Im deep in my rebuild, but after Im done and running I will see what I might have left over that can be useful.

Weezl - send me your water pump! The one on the motor now drops water from places it never should.

Jake - I know it would be tough to fab up the pipes to run duals, but to just get this girl running with anykind of respectable power, this was the cheapest way I could think of.

I think I've got a used walbro laying around. If someone can send me an intake manifold and maybe someone else some 1/2 aluminum plate... I will probably donate a FFIM...

ok fellas, sorry i took so long but i did a couple of designs and the one below is the only one that i felt actually came out worth anything. i do like the previous designs posted but i think the underdog on the side of the car, as well as the hood, might be a little overkill. anyway, here is mine, i didnt put it on the side of a car or anything though, i dont have any of my photo editing software anymore.
