So the .416 is cheaper AND better? Not often you hear that much. Im laughing at the thought of trying to find a 2500 yd range. Maybe part of the Barrett price tag should include a plot of land to shoot it at. haha

cheaper and better is subjective to the shooter, but if you lived far out west, 2500yards isn't hard to find. I'm willing to bet if you got ahold of some people out west, they be more then welcomed to have you shoot coyotes and prairie dog as they are open season year round.

Haven't posted in here in awhile, but then, haven't been to the range much lately. :) This is my target from the last time we went to the range, had a pretty good day, obviously:

Then, went to an outdoor range for the first time today. The first round or two were just warm ups, and me getting used to things, but this one kind of speaks for itself, I think:

Well, I just bought my first gun. Still have to wait the 5 days before I can bring it home but I'm really excited and can't wait to hit the range with it. Its a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm full size. The ergos are so nice, it feels like it simply belongs in my hand.

now, i guess the hunt for ammo begins.

Gun List
Norinco 98 - 12ga. Fricking sweet shotty 2 3/4" or 3" Black Parkerized
Walther P22 long barrel - Threaded Adapter, Fake Can, Walther lam
Bushmaster 22lr - Long Square Barrel
Marlin Semi Auto 22lr - stainless and wood stock
Firestorm .45acp - Government model Black Parkerized, rubber grips
Yugo SKS - 7.62x39 Dragonov Stock, 10rd box mags, all original equipment for sale or trade if interested

I've got pics somewhere where I tested all these on some bullet proof glass that was 3" thick. It stopped .22lr, and the .45fmj rounds I had but sks punched through and it didn't stand a chance against 3" rifled hollow point slugs:evil2:

What was the range? And what was the gun.
That second shot was pretty good.

Osceola Range in Lake City (weird, I know)

M&P 9c shooting Blazer 115gr.

I wish I would have gotten the video of my roommate taking down a golf ball from 50 yards (off of a tee) one handed with his Ruger SP101 firing .357 Magnum :) I can't remember what grain it was offhand, I just know it wasn't the 125gr ;)

There was a little story there, too - one of his co-workers brought out his AR15, put 2 rds in it, and put 2 golf balls up @ 50 yards. Shot the first off on the 1st shot, and missed the second. My roommate, being a smartass, pulls out the wheelgun and BOOM - first shot, takes it down ;)

It was mainly luck, yes - but damn if it wasn't impressive as hell! (he is a really damn good shot with that SP101, though)

I'm sitting on three right now. Mrs. Critter has an FNP-.45 that is an awesome assault handgun. Large trigger guard, bigger than the Glock 21. 14 round capacity, M1913 rail under barrel, and polymer frame. SA/DA.
Mine is a 20" Bushmaster AR in .223 Rem. Magpul PRS stock, MIAD grip. Yankee Hill Machine rails with Magpul rail covers. Flip up sights, nice scope with a Military crosshairs.
Dad's is a Mariln 1895SS .45-70 Government lever action repeater. My shoulder is still sore from the beating 16 rounds of that did. That's with pocketing the rifle and tightening the sling to my arm.

Pics will follow when I get to take them.

Nice pistol, provided you can cope with a large frame for concealed carry. It's what I do, but most people seem to find it a pain and prefer something more compact.

My last pistol was a full frame(ruger p345), so unless I am carrying my kahr I'm usually open carrying.

If you've got the luxury of open carry [strike](we don't here in GA)[/strike] then that's a great piece.

Cool deal, I read a magazine about this piece and thought about getting one with it's decent price. Some 1911 are a little too thick at the handle like glocks for my taste, I just hope this isn't that bad.

I was reading the regs and I think that once you have a ccw license, you can also open carry. I know I've seen a guy walk around with a Glock on his hip while I was getting the Mazda's oil changed. Well, at least here in Liberty County.

Ive heard, from a little yellow bird, but there are some states where if you open carry and your not a LEO they can cite you for scaring the public or intimidating them. Something to that effect if they dont like you open carrying.

I know Wyoming is very relaxed about policies like that here.

No, but if an armed civilian has a concealed carry license, then they can open carry. At least that's what I gathered from reading the information posted by my arms room. All LEOs have concealed carry, and retired LEOs too. Law Enforcement Officers' Safety Act passed by Bush before he left office. Must be a LEO or Retired LEO in good standing, and must be a reasonable weapon. I wouldn't try to carry an M4 concealed as a LEO. Also, the LEOSA overrides all state and local laws regarding concealed carry for LEOs.

In GA, you can open carry in your home, on your own land, at your place of business and in your car.

Open carry is only legal with a pistol permit issued by a magistrate.

Concealed carry is valid with a CCW, [strike]but it must be concealed.[/strike]

Edit: I just made a few phone calls and it appears that I was 100% incorrect. I was thinking of my old NY CCW, which is a different animal. As a valid GFL holder, I do have the right to open carry in GA.

Tread very lightly here folks, and don't take anything posted on this forum (or any other) as legal advice.
