The 249 has a nice sound to it. Though much slower sounding [obviously a much slower rate of fire], I tend to like the sound of the M60 more. Had very little time with a M60 though, and none with the 249. :(

Sure, this weapon appears to be far superior:

Chambered in Marxist .50, it's a little expensive to load, but wait until you see the damage it can do.

P.S. - I think I may have to take some time off, I'm really not fit to be around other humans at this point.

well since the Marine corps has done away with the M240 golf model, and has switched over the the bravo, i do have to say, carrying around my 240 is alot more fun, but then again, im Motor T, so im usaly stuck in the turret with the good old MA DUCE, witch of corse everyone knows is the most sexyest weapon ever built..

Anyone have any opinions on the Mossberg Maverick shotgun? I'm probably picking up a very lightly used one this weekend, and wanted to know what to expect with it.

I'm after a semi-auto rifle (thanks to living in a Country that permits civilian gun ownership), but, i'm still restricted to certain calibers. Anything thats a 'military' caliber is almost impossible to get, so a 7.62 is out of the question, as is a 5.56 and 5.7FN.

I wanted to get hold of something like an M1 Garand or an SVT-40, but i've not been able to find one thats not classed as a military caliber. They *do* allow the .308 round, which is virtually identical, just a wee bit shorter. Anyone got any ideas?

The catalogues here seem to only have .17HMR, .22LR, .223 Remington and stupidly large caliber guns, like .700 NitroExpress Semi Auto's!

I've already ordered myself a shotgun (Beretta xtrema2) and bought 120 rounds for it, and a Gamo Viper CFX Combo Air Rifle to begin target practice...

Friend of mine has one, I've done some shooting with it. The magazine capacity is intoxicating, and you can do a lot with them modification wise. If the price is right you, I'd say do it. Very reliable (Obviously, as its a shotgun. Not a whole lot to go wrong). Only problem I have with them is that I like the marinized versions a little better.

You realize the .223 and the 5.56 are basically the same thing, right? Pick up an ar-15 that chambered for .223 and you should be set.

Spoke to the guy at the gunstore, he said categorically that those style of weapons are not available to anyone regardless of license. Only Military/Police can use those, civvies, not a chance. It has to actually LOOK like a regular rifle. Hence why i was going for the M1 or the SVT-40.

to add, its packs a punch but not soo much you wouldn't want to shoot it. Rifle can be had for 150-300 depending on condition, ammo is non-corrosive and nickel cladding, rifle is unique in the fact it's a straight pull bolt action and each rifle is unique to the soldiers they were issued to(id under metal buttplate). here's picture to compare size(Left to right: 9mm ball, 45 ACP ball, .223, 7.5mm swiss, 7mm rem mag)...
