Wow this is an incredible thread; I'd just like to post some cool ammo I have always used against anti-gunners. It kinda leaves them speechless especially when they use that crap like we don’t have a reason to have guns anymore since we don’t hunt for food anymore. I tell them the 2nd was never intended to allow you to have guns to hunt, the 2nd is to prevent the Poli Tics from turning this country into a Socialist Bonanza, No offence Hoss. The last Quote is for ALL you that posted here in defence of the 2nd.

“No freeman shall be debarred the use of arms…”
THOMAS JEFFERSON

“…The people have the right to bear arms for the defense of themselves and the state…”
PENNSYLVANIA DECLARATION OF 1776

“Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined.”
PATRICK HENRY

“I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people…To disarm the people, that is the best and most effective way to enslave them…”
GEORGE MASON

“Americans [have] the right and advantage of being armed—unlike citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust people with arms.”
JAMES MADISON

“…Arms like laws discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The balance of power is the scale of peace.” THOMAS PAINE

“Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword because the whole body of people are armed and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States…”
NOAH WEBSTER

“Liberty and order will never be perfectly safe until a trespass on the Constitutional provisions for either, shall be felt with the same keenness that resents and invasion of the dearest rights…”
JAMES MADISON

“They that give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN

“Arms in the hands of individual citizens may be used at individual discretion…in private self defense.”
JOHN ADAMS

“The Constitution shall never be construed to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms…”
SAMUEL ADAMS

“Those who reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.”
THOMAS PAINE

I wouldnt use 17hmr on game larger than rabbits either. 17hmr just lets you take longer shots. It's terminal ballistics are pretty much the same as 22lr.

ive heard talk of some varminters using a certain tipped .17 bullet that allows it to fragment on impact and not make a gaping hole for an exit wound. im thinkin they said it was for fox and coyote fur since it'd make such a small entrance and no exit hole. do they all do this, or was it just that manufacturer's design?

You're talking about a VMax tip. Even still, I personally wouldn't use 17hmr, 22lr, or even 22mag on anything larger than a rabbit or so.

hey i just heard about some companys making the ar15 in .308 anyone shoot these yet?

Are you sure you aren't thinking about the AR-10? They look like big AR15s.

.308 is a good deal too big to fit in an AR mag. As a matter of fact, I'll go take a picture of how much too big right now...

I also used VMax .223 rounds in the pic cuz I was talking about them earlier.

You might be thinking of 6.8spc or 6.5grendal, both of which are about 80% the power of .308 but can fit in an AR15 platform.

DPMS, Armalite and KAC make .308 AR style rifles. There may be others, but these are the most popular. They are technically "AR-10" style rifles.
If I had the money, I would buy one from KAC [Knight's Armament]. They are designed after the Stoner SR-25 rifles. Probably a ton more expensive than the others, and KAC has a reputation for being extremely expensive, and I've even heard that they have long lead times AND are snobby assholes. I don't know how much of this is true, but we shall see when I go to order from them. Even if that is all true, I have also heard that their systems are absolute quality.
I will also definitely buy a KAC suppressor when I buy my USP Tactical, even though it is 1.5-3x the price of other suppressors, unless I read a review somewhere that tells me of a reason NOT to buy it other than price.

Depends on the buffer. It has to be better than a bolt-action .308!

Google Eugene Stoner and the rifle from Knights Armament, the SR-25. A real nice toy I may have to buy just because.

There are about a million and a half different handguns that you could carry conceal.

Have you shot before? What caliber do you like? How big are you physicaly? Do you even have a CCW license? How much are you looking to spend?

If you know who this kid is, you might want to let his parents and school administrators know about this.
