I have a bunch of front on engine bay pics. I have a bunch of pics of my exhaust manifold, the head, the block surface... etc.

GIVE ME A LIST OF WHAT IS NEEDED AND I"LL PROVIDE!!!

ex.
Needed:
-Cam covers removed, exposing cams installed
-Cam covers removed, cams taken out, valve assembly complete
-Head taken off, block deck surface
-alternator pulley (;) CRE)
-intake plenum underside...

etc...

I would start with a front engine shot. (obisously) Then get a shot of 4 sections(quarters) of the engine bay which show that section closer. Then focus on parts. I can start with the intake(drivers side) of the car. I have some pics and can add many more.

IF ANYONE WOULD PUT THESE TO USE, PM ME or reply to this thread...

examples...
cam covers off, side view:

front head on engine bay:

rear engine crank:

I pmed dugums but heard nothing from him, anyone else know where he might be or how else to contact him?

If so try to do so. Looks like we have some people with pics waiting now.

I also forgot to mention I found a site that had claimed to have something like what we intended to do but the link doesn't work. I don't know if it will work for anyone else, if not maybe we can contact Ian and see how he did it and collaborate with him.

From the site:

"Supra Explorer. Pictures of Ian Chisholm's MkIII Turbo Supra. You can click on parts of it to zoom in or move the cursor over an item to find out what it is. (thanks to Ian Chisholm)"

Actual site:

The top link "Supra Explorer"

I emailed 4 zipped packages to Dugums on 9/19.... if someone else wants to take a look at them then post up and I'll forward the emails. Then I'm done.

I do have your emails.

I will review this stuff over the weekend and let everyone know what the status is. Sorry - just been a bit busy this week.

I will take more of an ownership role of this project and start to organize a list of what we need (with all of your help). I will give it a genuine effort - hopefully there will be more people now to help out.

CRE - I did get your stuff - the project seemed to have fallen by the wayside at that point.

No matter what comes of it, THANK YOU for being willing to contribute.:icon_bigg

No worries here Dugums, I'm not really looking to get much if anything out of this project. Just trying to give back a little (more) before I say my farewells to the MKIII club.

Sort of the same feeling I had when I got involved - I was just hoping more people would jump in.

Well, I have some time today, so I am going to try and post a plan for the site. My hope is that giving some direction to this project will motivate more people to get involved.

This WILL NOT happen if I don't get a ton of help. I'm not saying that to be negative - just realistic. I do not have the time OR knowledge to create this independently.

For this to be a USEFUL tool it will need to be a community project.

My thought right now is to make an outline of what topics need to be covered. People will be able to help out by posting information directly, or by locating links that contain the information pertinent to each topic.

The outline itself will also need to be edited by those more knowledgeable than me - to make sure we don't miss any important topics.

More to come today.

Here is what I have decided:

If I am going to put time into this project, I want to end up with a comprehensive guide to the MKIII.

This will be broader in scope than the original illustrated guide proposed - though my plan is still to offer a visual navigation tool as originally described as part of the total package (pending the receipt of acceptable pictures and member help).

This guide will have pictures of each part of the car. It will describe the function of the part, typical maintenance, repairs, and common upgrades. Part descriptions will have relevant links to useful web content such as informative threads on Supramania, good websites, etc. Part descriptions will also reference appropriate pages in the TSRM and possibly link to the online TSRM (I have not yet decided if I want to do this, as I am not really fond of people who do not legally purchase the book).

I realize I am making the project a bit larger, but if I am to commit my time to be involved I want to create something a little more special than originally conceived. Because this project is a bit larger, I am going to reevaluate the delivery method (ie static HTML pages), perhaps employing something a little more appropriate.

I will make that decision this weekend. Once I do, I will show a rough draft of how the site will behave and act. At that point, I would like some suggestions of how to improve the interface (ie, what is missing, what would make it easier etc.).

To aid in the creation of the site, I will assign tasks for those who wish to contribute. Some of them will be easy, some more involved. These tasks will not be assigned to any person in particular, rather to the community as a whole. I believe this might entice people to get more involved. There are so many helpful people here on SM, even those who have no need for the tool might decide to help out with a simple task.

The faster the tasks get done, the quicker this tool will go into production. If the tasks don't get done, the project stalls.

This resource is intended to be created by the community. It will be as good as the contributions we get.

Welcome back to the project dugums, I think we took a break there for a little while but I think it's gonna happen. Of course I thought that the first time as well but I have positive thoughts. I was wondering if you wanted to do it like the dsm site we saw, where there is a whole engine bay shot from different angles and you click to see what u want.

Or if individual picture are an option.

Side note:

This will be a comprehensive guide on the MKIII. Every nook and cranny will be covered.

As there were a few people looking for a picture-based navigation scheme (like the DSM site), this will be part of the project.

Alright guys.

I responded to you. I got myself more involved in a project that seemed like it had some support here.

Now is your time to step up and help out. Wanting something to happen won't make it so - you have to put in the work.

I have posted two very specific, simple tasks. They don't take that long, just a little effort. I even put some time in on the first one to give you guys a jumping off point.

This is very simple -

If I get input from you guys on these tasks, this tool will become a reality. This will require quite a bit of time on my part, which I am willing to do as a way to give back to Supramania.

I don't want this to drag on for an untold amount of time - we have already seen the level of apathy we are dealing with. The tasks are designed to keep us on task so that this tool can be released in a reasonable amount of time.

If we don't have enough input, the tool will not be useful (and therefore, will not be built).

------------------------------------------------------

For any of you who are bumping this thread asking "Well, where is it already?" - Stop wasting your time doing that and submit some help on one of our tasks!

I know I sound whiny, but I can't help it - it is disappointing to continually get convinced to work on a project, put some time in on it, and then get no response.

If we can get these first two tasks done, I will release a full build schedule and site outline.

Search "comprehensive dictionary" and you will find the thread giving the long list of all pictures he wants. You don't need to wait for him to ask, send the pics when you get to take them. Just type up at the beginning of the e-mail what is included so he knows what's in the file. This way he can get rid of what he has already and use the ones that he doesnt have.... or are better than what he has.

I had checked my computer thoroughly and I had deleted most of my supra pictures a long time ago, but I still have some that I found I know that will be helpful. I'll send them tonight. I didnt send yet because I was hoping to take or find more.

That's not quite the point of the content list 'task'- although eventually we will need pictures. I didn't have many people participate in the first two tasks - not one who actually did what was requested.

As I do not have the help I was seeking in organizing the site, I will have to do that as time allows. There really needs to be a bit more participation. I don't personally need this tool, nor do I plan on spending time on something that is not going to be useful.

For now, I will keep plugging along until the entire framework is built. Once I have made requests for content and pictures - it's all going to be up to you guys. I will make a determination at that point whether it is worth going forward. Support for this program needs to be in the form of participation; simply wanting this to happen or asking "when is this going to happen?" will not make this a reality.

So when would you like the pictures?

I will make specific requests at some point. Please understand, I'm not saying don't send them if you have them - by all means send me as many pictures as you want. But I won't really be looking through them until I get to that point.

If you see me request a picture you know you sent me, please give me a heads up where to look for it. So far, the vast majority of pictures that I have received are unlabeled. There is a good chance I might miss one. So, again, if you see me asking for one and you remember you already sent me one, just let me know.

I thought this was long since dead! I'm glad I was mistaken!

I'd love to help out with this again, but I don't really have enough experience to do the write-ups. What I can do is HTML/JAVA programming if it's needed or other little things that don't require too much technical knowledge. Let me know how I can help!

I am working on it - slowly.

Sorry for the lack of progress updates, I am in the midst of a time-consuming project at work right now.
