I always see two MKIII's around town on the job. I was wondering if any of you guys know who they are. One is a red 89+ with factory 5 star wheels. It's over on Military Dr just past Whitewood St. It's been there for years. Just sitting outside.
The other one is yellow '87-88 over by Acme & Castroville Rd. It's sitting on jackstands in the back yard. Anybody know those guys?

Is that a performance timing belt? lol

I'll be doing my swap next weekend, And I need to send my damn ecu in to get my capacitors replaced.

Hey check this. I don't know if I ever told you guys about the clean stock supra was at the Harlandale independent school district Police department Next door to my sister house. this was back when I had my old white piece of shit (my first supra). Any way, I'm trying to transfer the title to my name, and I ran into a little problem. I need to get in touch with the owner, So I start the search.

I remember the guy in Austin that I bought it from told me that he bought it from some cop in San Antonio. He didn't transfer it into his name yet because he never got it running. So That is what I had to go on, I start doing searches on the internet and I track the guy down. It turns out that I bought the supra that I had been eying next door to my sisters house. The guy from H.I.S.D.P.D. sold it to the guy in Austin who sold it to me, And now it sits 25 yard from where it use to park 4 years ago. CRAZY!

I have kind of a dumb question to ask, I got the engine out of the car and started tearing it down and run into a couple snags nothing major. Is there any trick to taking the cam gears off the head? Also does this head have cam bearings? I cant find a part number or anything.

Not really, just hold the cam gear in place and remove the bolt holding it on.

No cam bearings.

I got a hold of the old owner to day. It turns out he is retired S.A.P.D. and worked with my grandpa, Who was also retired from the force. He lived down the street from him back in the 60's. CRAZY!

Oh wait , are you talking about cam gears or cam shafts? Cam shafts are a pain it the ass to get off. I put the bolt that held the cam gears on back on and use it to help pry the shafts out.

Are they star shaped? like san supra asked are the arp? Why do you need to take the cam gears off? when you say cam gears do you mean cam shafts? There is no special tool for taking either off.

David, yeah all six, stock. Not pig tails just the clips.

The gears on the front of the camshafts is what im talking about. I had to loosen all the caps to check the clearences but I cant torque the front two back down because the black plate behind the gears is in the way. And yes im also trying to use arp head studs but the nut wont fit inside the head and me be able to torque them down. If you have a set of head studs please let me know I can meet you or come pick them up just shoot me a text or phone call its 614-338-9691
