hows the build coming along?
So far so good. I had to order a few gaskets from Toyoyta that didnt come with the Cometic rebuilt kit i had bought so that set me back a bit since Toyota made me wait 2 weeks to get them, but the motor should be going in this week. What oil do you guys thin i should use to break in the motor? I saw a thread here about using a single grade 30W but that doesnt sound right does it? here's the link: http://www.supramania.com/forums/sh...ak-in-Oil-and-When-to-Switch-to-Synthetic-Oil

straight 30w isnt going to hurt anything because its warm out.

it would be a little more protection on start up because of its thickness.

Cool I'm hoping to have my swap done by next week. Got to wait for my ecu to get back. It had leaky caps. We cleaned up that swap real nice. Should be a real looker when we are done.

On a side note, Millers should have my old block done by next week. So Darrell should have his supra up within the month. I feel a little get together coming on. Since Miguel is almost done with his engine.

OK so I am need of some help. If someone has about 20min that they can help me with this stupid head that would be great. It's gotten to the point where I am so confused on why these nuts won't go on these damn studs. I even order a second set, still same problem. I can get like 2 of the nuts on but even if I could get them all on I cant get anything in there to tighten them down. I live over by the forum if someone can look at it. I was going to post pics up but I dont have a working camera right now.

I'm at the same point you're in Nicole. I went to lowes and bought a Kobalt 14mm 12pt deep socket and it fits.
I just have a couple of questions for you guys. I have ARP studs in place. I chased all the thread to make sure they're clean. Just to make sure, thread them in finger tight right? After I put them on I put the head on for test fit. Head slides on. I notice that the washers will not slip on the stud while the head is already in place. I guess I have to put the washers on the head then slip the head over the studs. Is that correct?
I also noticed that there are two washer for every stud. One bigger than the other. Which one goes on first?
Another good question is what is the lb/ft rating I'm supposed to torque them down to? Is it 95lb/ft? Thanks for the help guys.

Head is on and torqued down. Cams are on too. Tomorrow I'll do a little more, and so on.

Looking good there rufus, What was the trick to get the studs on? Darrell will be putting his head on shortly. Five months later his engine is ready. And he has arp head studs.
