BTW, those bastards at the track scared the shit out of me last night. After my first run I was on the return road to pick up my slip. Woman at the ticket booth told me that I had a "MASSIVE" oil leak, and needed to fix it before I made another pass. I immediatly looked at my oil pressure guauge and had good pressure. I parked the car and checked the oil and it was full. I let it idle for a good 5 minutes to see if I had any leaks and not a single drop.
So I line up again, do a nice standing burnout, and pull up to stage. The staging guy runs up to my car and tells me to back it up and get it out cause I have a massive oil leak. I back up, and he checks the ground and sees absolutely nothing. I told him that I checked it in the parking lot and didn't see a single drop anywhere. Then he tells me that I can run "this time", but I need to fix my leak.
I'm wondering to myself if I had a fucking leak then he shouldn't let me (or anybody) run at all. That's because I don't have a leak. So why was he giving me a hard time. Then next time I make a pass I do a small rolling burnout and stage. He doesn't tell me anything. I dunno. I hate to think of it this way, but I think he doesn't like imports. He's always telling the import drivers something, but rarely the domestic guys.
The only people allowed to roll through the water box was cars with slicks. Street tires and drag radials had to drive around the water box. Plenty of domestic guys with drag radials would drive around the water box. Then they's back up into the box and do a quick spin, pull up a little, and do their standing burnout. I tried doing the same thing and that damn guy came running to my car to tell me not to do that cause I'm on street radials. I tell him I have drag radials and he says, "The look like street tires to me so don't use the water box!" I told him that the Mustang in front of me had drag radials on his car and you let him do it. He ignores me and gestures me to pull up. Then he looked at me funny when I start to warm my tires up. I swear they discourage us (imports) from coming.
Oh, and when I was teching in he asked me to pop off my center caps to check to see if I had all my lug nuts on the wheels. Then asked me if they were properly torqued to spec. In the staging lanes I saw a Mustang with one lug nut missing on each side of his rear wheels. He didn't even have center caps. Hmm, he must have missed that one I guess.
Thanks for listening to my rant.
