Yeah....i was doing research on the feramic disk. A little pricey but i think i can swing that price. I dont think I'm going to like a six puck style. The chatter thing will bother me. I know you fools will say ....learn to drive....but thats how i feel about dat Lt. Dan.

Alright Gump. I don't really care for my six puck sprung disc myself. I just hit 300 miles on the disc today. I slipped it hard twice in second gear like the ACT tech told me to do when I called and asked how to break in the disc. After doing that it still felt like this disc was slipping. Now it seems like it's holding just fine.

Interesting stuff about SPEC pressure plates. There's a guy here selling a SPEC six puck and PP. He emphasized how SPEC PP's are stock Aisin PP without any modification that are just painted blue. I couldn't believe it so I called SPEC today and talked to a tech about their pressure plates. I asked if their pressure plates were altered in any way to increase the clamping load. He said all of their kits (stages 1-5) feature a "high clamp pressure plate." Hmm... just like it says on their website. I then asked him what is their stage 3 rated at in terms of clamping load. He quickly turned my question around and said that each stage is rated at a certain torque capacity mainly because of the clutch disc material. And because of the different materials is why they can hold more torque rather than the clamping load on the pressure plates. He also added that each clutch disc was a certain thickness that the PP was engineered to compensate for that thicknesses so it can clamp properly and what not.
So I asked about their $99 option that adds additional 100 ft lbs torque capacity to the ratings of each stage. I was going to ask exactly what process they go through to achieve that advertised additional 100 ft lbs. He told me he knows it says that on the website, but it's not really an option. Basically that was their Super Clamp PP that they have, and quickly went back to the different material of the clutch disc that is going to make the difference of all of their clutch set holding capacity. Basically this guy kept jumping around my question and didn't want to answer wether or not their PP's are stock untouched Aisin units.

When I talked to the ACT tech last week he told me what each of their PP's clamping loads were. I wonder why SPEC kept avoiding my question.

Remember when I told you guys that I installed my HKS EVC III boost controller (BC). Well, I think it's shot. I haven't been boosting my car for the last 300 miles so I could break in this clutch disc. When I did floor it to test my clutch the car pulled harder than usual followed by fuel cut. Fuel cut? I did another pull again looking closely at my boost gauge. Damn thing shot up to ~15psi, but I let off before it hit boost cut again. I had my BC set to .60 bar which was under 10psi. My wastegate has a 10psi spring in it, so it shouldn't boost over that. I looked at the display and noticed it was always close to 0. It wasn't reading vacuum or boost. When I got home I check to see if any of the lines sprung a leak. All good. I double checked to see if I installed it correctly. I did. So what gives? I disconnected the BC and hooked up the line straight from turbo to side port again. Running 10psi again just fine. I left a vacuum line hooked up to the stepping motor, but the dispay unit still will not read vacuum or boost correctly. I think the map sensor in the stepping unit is fried. That's my guess.

S.A. How much you think BJ gonna cost ?
I might be able to just take the hubs off, and press in/out bearings myself (with a press)... unless it's more complicated than that.

Hey mensrea,
Have you tried looking at the TRSM online manual to see how much work you're going to have to do. I think we were a little slow to react to you with the 'BJ' comment. Lol....jus kiddin. Here's the link to the online TRSM.

Hey guys,
Just realized what a dinosaur our cars are. So i've been driving my car but it's been really squirrelly in the rear. Damn thing is all iver the place. So i was figuring on droppin the rear subframe and swap it with Mikes donor car. Well...i was under the car today to see how much work it was gonna take and o noticed the camber bolts for camber and toe and the bolt positions were way off. Look on my other vehicles and saw maybe one adjust per tire. I saw, i believe, three per tire. WTF......so i'll try an alignment before i tear the rear apart.

Is this your only car? You do have another DD don't you? Are you military? I would try my best to do it myself to save $650. That's money that can be used for other mantainance or upgrades.

Hey justbeinfrank
Did you make sure you had all your gaskets on the turbo oil hoses. Also if they are tight. I had a stripped stud on mine...luckily a had an extra one. Hope you get that fixed.

Guys,
Well i thought i needed a new rear subframe but decided to try an alignment. The tech said that when he started i must have been driving down the road sideways.....it was FUBAR. The tech did the best he could but ran out of adjustment but its just a tad out of spec.

justbeinfrank, no biggie. I wasn't in a hurry to get fixed. Darrel came over to help me, and a I had a co-worker help me button things up. It's doing ok now. When ya gonna be up and running? I'd like to see your car sometime.

Darrel, how does it drive now? Much better I assume. After you get new tires you might need to do another alignment job. Hopefully not.

Michael, that shit happens alot. We always here stories of bus drivers getting assaulted.
