Rocks are in museums too.
that made me laugh.

You can get great quality paint jobs for far less than 5000 dollars. I'd rather pay 200 dollars for a good paintjob than go around bragging that the paint on my car costs 50 dollars a drop.

well funny you mention it, but me and Martin tibensky broke down the costs of it. You might be wondering who Martin is huh? well he is the first person to implement this on his charger and beetle. You might recognize his cars on those 2 threads. Point is, a high quality paint job should cost no more then 2000 dollars and thats with an inside spray. I don't know why you would assume i never tried to break down the costs.

Have you seen Martin paint any cars with this method? I think it is quite innovative. I am sick of body shops trying to rip me off.

ghetto, nothing less. Does anyone wonder why MKIII's are considered cheap toys for kids? The rationalization in this thread, to honda owners no less, should clear up any remaining doubt as to why the stereotype exists.

If you want a cheap shit job, roll away baby! If you want a quality, professional job, spend the required money

Since when are MKIII's considered "cheap toys for kids"? I have never heard anyone say that about MKIII's. And I don't see how it's "ghetto" if it looks and protects just as well as a conventional paint job...that's all that matters, right?

I was looking for a cheap way to paint my winter beater (86 accord hatch w/ only 175k kilometers).. and I will actually be trying this method in the spring... I will be doing it this way..

1. Prep the car.. the body is straight, not a lot needed
2. fix any rust or replace fenders that are have too much rust (rear quarters)
3. Mix up the rustoleum with mineral spirits so it's a little thicker than water
4. Apply 1 thin coat, wet sand with 400 grit...
5. Repeat with gradually finer grits of sand paper
6. After 6-7 coats will use turtle wax polishing compound over the entire car
7. Apply wax and buff to a shine

We did a buddy of mine's 4x4 this way and it turned out great.. no pics of it tho..

The supra on the other hand... will get a $3500 paint job with the factory colour (grey metallic).. and new black leather seats/door inserts and new carpet set... black/grey perforated two tone interior...

the honda is my winter beater car... soon to be daily driver while I start the supra's 450+hp goal build in the spring/summer.. then the supra will get the eavening/weekend cruiser status once I complete the build...

I will post pictures every step of the way (with the accord paint job and the supra build)

im not gonna argue with you guys.

good, then dont. infact please stay out of my thread because this thread will benefit others who want to do the job themselves and if you are coming in here to tell people otherwise, then why not PM and admin, instead of telling others this kind of crap. your opinion means nothing to others who want to do this to thier car, you dont have to do it if you dont want to. and stuff like that is what causes threads to get locked. so do everyone a favor and dont come here telling these things and trying to start an argument in an otherwise non-hostile environment. thanks.

I honestly hate how some people think cheap paintjobs are crap no matter what. Any paintjob, no matter how cheap or expensive, depends on how well you prep/sand the car, no ifs, ands or buts. I hate how people say MY car is going to be bad just because it costs $1200 (mind you this is with a significant discount), but I'm confident that it will be great because I know the guy, and he is an over-achiever, he won't give you the car if he notices something wrong or slightly off. The paintjob all depends on who does it, and the extent of the prep work, costs is just a $.
