sheesh, I'm starting to think this whole rebuild was snake bit from the start. The machine shop I've turned my motor to is owned by a gut named Bill & his son, Scott, works for him, doing a bulk of the work. While I've had my troubles getting my motor completed, Scott has been doing an outstanding job.
There was a mishap with my main studs, so I had to end up buying some more in order to get my motor completed. After waiting for several days for them to arrive, I was in such a rush to get them to Scott that I never bothered to open the box that they were shipped in. After getting to the shop & opening the box, we found that instead of main studs, head studs were sent. Yet another delay. Scott did say that once he got the correct studs it would only take him a few hours to get the motor together, so this weekend wasn't out of the question.
I called the supplier, reamed an ass or two & insisted that they overnight the correct parts directly to the machine shop. He gave me a tracking number, which I checked online yesterday but I couldn't tell if they had made it or not.
This morning, I called the machine shop to see if they had arrived. I asked for either Bill or Scott, but they guy said that neither one would be in today & he went on to say that Bill had closed down the shop for the day. I was furious, but I kept my cool when I asked why. The guy said that since he recognized my voice, he would tell me that Scott had died early this morning in a car wreck. :icon_sad: I was just dumbfounded, not knowing what in the hell to say. What do you say?
This sure put things back into perspective.
While he & I had gone back & forth a few times, he & I were friends. I just can't believe that this has happened. Thanks Scott, and take it easy. :sadwavey: :wtc:
