damn mark, the mani came out nicccceeee, when is she going to be back on the road?

I pick up the motor tomorrow, maybe Thursday. If so, I hope to have it running by next weekend.

Do you still have your old motor? I need an oil pump feed tube & the union bolt. The drive shaft bolts, too. I'd love to pick up the pieces locally, but I think I'll have to order them. Let me know.

Mark, glad to hear that you are finaly getting the motor back or did today.

I think that I have a oil feed tube and bolt back at the other house. I will check and see tomorrow. If so, its yours. I will give you a call tomorrow and let you know either way.

Sorry, no driveshaft bolts for ya though. If you have to order them from Toyota, I get a nice discount from toyota in brandon so let me know on that part and I can help you out there also.

Update:

I have my hot side in from MDC (& wastegate from BigAaron). Jons T04E is absolutely beautifull. I'm not posting anymore pictures until I get the motor assembled & ready to set in the car, but I will say this, I couldn't be any happier witht he service I've recieved from Jon, Aaron & Ron. These guys bust their balls for the MKIII community so much so that when ever I need something, if one of them supply it, I'll buy it from them even if it means me paying more money for two reasons. First, the quality of the parts I've recieved from them will not be beaten by anyone else. It's incredible. Second, I believe in taken care of those who take me. If they aren't making money, they won't be around for long. I want them to be available if I need something, so buy as much as you can from these guys!

Thank you Jon, Ron & Aaron.

With that said, I have seen the top of the mountain, and it is good.:biglaugh: I went to my machinist this morning to find him actually working on my motor.:icon_bigg The block has been bored, honed & decked. The deck almost has a mirror finish it's so smooth. He said that he is on course to finish tomorrow, so as soon as I get it back, I'll begin immediately to get it back together, so expect pictures in a few days. I'm pressed for time. I have a mini meet to attend on the 22nd & I begin a new work commitment on the 24th requiring me to be on the road 3 days out of the week.

I just got back from the machine shop. I will be picking it up today.:bigthumb:

A few weeks ago I stopped by the shop & showed Bill, the machinist, my hot side set up. He asked a few questions & then finally asked me what kind of power I will be making. I told him between 425rwhp daily, and as high as 500rwhp on race gas. His eyes got as big as saucers & he said that when I talked to him when dropping the motor off (6 months ago :nono: ), he thought that those numbers were at the crank.

Anyway, while in the shop I read the numbers from the guy who balanced it, he got it within 1/10th of a gram.:aigo: Bill had originally written 450hp on the work order, but then he scratched through that & wrote 625hp. :biglaugh: I asked bill about, laughing, & he just shook his head saying that the difference between a 450chp build & a 600+chp build are like night & day so he had to go back over the motor and double check a lot of things.

So I should see a motor that is smooth as glass. The balance included the harmonic balance, crank, rods, piston & rings, flywheel & pressure plate.

Let's hope that he comes through today, it would be a real kick in the nuts not to be able to make real progress. I'm getting tired of polishing stainless steel & aluminum parts just because I want to work on my car. Look for updates (with pictures) Sunday night.

sheesh, I'm starting to think this whole rebuild was snake bit from the start. The machine shop I've turned my motor to is owned by a gut named Bill & his son, Scott, works for him, doing a bulk of the work. While I've had my troubles getting my motor completed, Scott has been doing an outstanding job.

There was a mishap with my main studs, so I had to end up buying some more in order to get my motor completed. After waiting for several days for them to arrive, I was in such a rush to get them to Scott that I never bothered to open the box that they were shipped in. After getting to the shop & opening the box, we found that instead of main studs, head studs were sent. Yet another delay. Scott did say that once he got the correct studs it would only take him a few hours to get the motor together, so this weekend wasn't out of the question.

I called the supplier, reamed an ass or two & insisted that they overnight the correct parts directly to the machine shop. He gave me a tracking number, which I checked online yesterday but I couldn't tell if they had made it or not.

This morning, I called the machine shop to see if they had arrived. I asked for either Bill or Scott, but they guy said that neither one would be in today & he went on to say that Bill had closed down the shop for the day. I was furious, but I kept my cool when I asked why. The guy said that since he recognized my voice, he would tell me that Scott had died early this morning in a car wreck. :icon_sad: I was just dumbfounded, not knowing what in the hell to say. What do you say?

This sure put things back into perspective.

While he & I had gone back & forth a few times, he & I were friends. I just can't believe that this has happened. Thanks Scott, and take it easy. :sadwavey: :wtc:

Wow, Mark. I never expected your story to take that turn. My condolences go out to Scotts family.

Me neither. The funeral is Monday, which I will attend. I'm sure there will be a lot of tears, he was only 28 years old.

I worked a lot today on get the rest of my stuff ready to go on the motor once I get it. I finished my polishing today & I'll try to get the intercooler on Monday.
