adjusting the clutch engages is rather easy. If you take off the plastic cover under the steering wheel and wedge yourself up under the dash. have a peek at the clutch pedal and bracket and pushrod. If you think about it for a few minutes you can figure out how it works and then adjust it. Just make sure it's engaging all the way (with the pedal all the way out push on it slowly. you want it to move like an inch before you get pressure).

You sound intelligent enough. Sometimes when working on it you just have to stop and think for a few minutes. Figure out how it works and it's easier to fix.

Good luck. Pullin the tranny aint no small task. But it's completely do-able.

Yes, Aisin parts are usually fine... hell, half the OEM parts for our car are made by Aisin.

i figure this will force me to get into something i always thought i would get into

id rather be a more mechanically inclined 18 year old if it means savings thousands in the long run

Ha! Sorry to jump on this so late, but I'm in the Bay too- Sunnyvale, and I do on site technical support for APR in Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Woodside.

I just got myself an 87, and I'll be spending the day here in Sunnyvale under the car doing an oil change, differential fluid change and spark plugs.

I'd offer a hand, but I've got a ton on my plate as it is. :icon_sad:

Pulling the tranny with jack stands is two person job.. Also, need lots of good tools.... Good luck man.. It took me two weeks after work to get this done....

no, you get to the master on the drivers side by the clutch pedal, and the slave is super easy to get too under the car.. no worries.
