We were the first ones to do this a few years back I believe. My 1jz had working ac from day 1.
You need a 1jz ac pump and the top plate from the 7m ac pump that the hoses bolt to. Swap the plate onto the 1jz ac pump. The ps bracket will barely hit on of the bolts for the hose fitting, just grind a notch in the bracket where it hits. Wire the white wire for the ac clutch to the stock blue wire for the 7m pump. That's it.

Look at the picture in this post of the AC pump. You'll see the grinding done on the PS bracket. You'll see that I ground down the bolt holding down the AC line too. :biglaugh: I replaced all of the seals, so I shouldn't have to screw with again, so....

Hole drilled into firewall....

Also note, I bought a 2" holesaw. It should be a little bigger than required, I'll post later if that's true or not. Make sure that when you buy your holesaw that it is made for metal, not just wood.

Edit, I attached a picture of the portion ot the engine harness 'sleeve' that I removed. This will allow the harness to pass straight back towards the firewall, not up towards the top of the motor as in the original 1JZ cars. You can see the portion I removed sitting on top of the intake leaning against the hoist chain...

so will the ECU be located in the stock position with this setup? If so I dont see how this benefits instead of using the stock hole to go through.

YEs it will. If you are not extending the harness ( cutting and splicing) then this is a great option for the ease of installation.

major reason for extendin g the harness is because the jdm harness is designed for right hand drive Supras, and US ecus are located on the left side. This setup will cut the routing length to almost stock

Rakkasan, did you just have your flywheel resurfaced, or did you use it like it came, or did you buy another one. I think I'm going to have mine resurfaced. I was just wondering what you did. Thanks.

I bought the new lightened flywheel from 935 motorsports. It's a nice unit as far as I can tell. It looks to have been balanced & it seems to fit perfectly. So far (without driving with it), I'm very pleased with it....

Note: If you decide to replace the pilot bearing, got to a parts store & rent/borrow a blind hole bearing puller. Ideal & I screwed around with it for atleast a hour, probably more, with pliers, screw drivers, et al. After pounding my knuckles into my driveway TWICE, I picked up the bearing puller & had it out in less than a minute. The right tool for the right job & all that.....

so you say almost stock. Is there going to be some stretching needed to get it to fit? Also im still not understanding totally where that jumper harness comes into play.

The jumper harness is the link between the 1J ECU & the and your 7M body harness. By taking wire "A" from the 1J connector (that you *should* have been cut off the JZA70 body harness from your donor car) and splicing it to wire "X" from the your old 7M engine harness, you complete the required circuit to enable the 1J ECU to control the various items of your MA70 car.

HTH...

man this sounds like the way to go. Unfortunately my wire has already been spliced. I would have to come up with another harness, which still might not be out of the question. But I would say one would be hard to come by. It appears that the guy I bought the car from was just planning on putting the 7m plugs onto the JZ harness and plugging it up as my harness has the plugs removed. arrgggggg!!! Thanks for the patience with me Rak as im ignorant to this install at the moment but, im trying to learn so when it comes time I will be more prepared. Id doesnt help that I dont have the clip to make comparisons with so this thread will be a great help in the future.

Well thats true as I can see that he is a great help with a wealth of knowledge about these installs obviously. But dont discount the fact that you are doing a thread and putting everything into words and pics, which is going to be a great asset for the community in the future to get through a job like this. Hats of to both of you then!

This should be the last the last Non-Christmas Christmas boxes I'll need.....

The last two pictures are of the damaged clutch that I almost ran. Luckily for me, Ideal & I couldn't get the tranny to mate up with the motor, so we pulled it apart. If it would have mated up, I would never had seen the problem & I would have toasted a brand new lighted flywheel. It cost me a few hundred bucks for another clutch, but when I think about having to tear the tranny back out & then buying a new clutch & flywheel, I don't feel too bad.

Also, I believe that I have Jose & Aarons first 1JZ AFPR kit. I have to testify that the quality is amazing. The hard line is a work of art, I'll get pictures of it installed tomorrow. The quality of their IC piping kit is top notch too. The wall thickness of the piping is a lot thicker than I thought it would be.

EDIT: it looks like the pictures of the clutch plate turned out blurry. Sorry about that.
