Ugh I hate mesh/wire screens in bumpers.... I think it would look SUPER out of place on this car too Too bad you already started cutting. I would look for a billet grill for another car and cut to fit that.

But man, everything so far looks GREAT! You've done a superb job, very inspiring. I'm looking forward to some vids

PS - whats so wrong with that interior color?!? lol I think it fits the car really well.

The stock black interior is FAR better in coolness factor, BUT...just think when you pull up at the local meet with your "skidmark tan" Celica with "baby food" interior only to pop the hood and reveal the true heart of the beast! Attention will immediately shift from any discussion of color, except maybe what color your tail lights will look to them :naughty:.

just went through every page, wow. this whole thread is very inspiring like others have said.
as for cutting the front bumper, i was thinking maybe two separate rectangles that maybe go the length of the intercooler fins. but if you've already cut the bumper up it probably won't work with that.

Personally, I'd prolly do the short shifter mod, and use a larger shift boot,
so that it'd look a bit more at home. And as for the grill, I would also suggest
some sort of chrome or billet insert to allow airflow, but close up the hole,
as previously mentioned above. AND- paint the IC black.

SO I finally got a chance to steal the wheels off of my moms car and put them under the celica.. You can see her car in the backround of one of the first pic hahaha.

TO all the people that said it wouldnt work or fit.......Keep in mind that this axle is a full 3 inches wider than the stocker!

Also yesterday, I put in a second radiator cap at the highest point in the system.... not the prettiest thing in the world but it should work great.

and I installed an electric fan behind the radiator becase there is not even close to enough room for the factory clutch fan

HAHA! Looking good! The rear fit is great. MTs and some drag times will be necesary! How close is your radiator hose to the alternator belt? I would think about fabbing up a hardpipe with that cap built in for fewer possible failure points. Can't wait to see it on the road!

the hose is maybe ~1/2 inch away... really close I know.... I wish I had someone that could tig weld up a hard pipe for me. But I dont have a tig welder or anyone else that does

7mgtesuprapat was over the other day and he suggested the same, but I think the hole may be a little bit too wide. I dont know how the plastic duct would look on the chrome bumper though.....

No turbo A duct lol.... I'm going to say it again because I think it's by far the best look (keeping it somewhat generation specific): go with something billet. A blacked out IC with a billet grill to cover it would be great. Keep the chrome look of the bumper but keep the IC secret

The big chrome safety bumper on the 75-77's are ugly as hell to begin with. What you really need are some pre75 smiley's. They are much smaller and there is an opeing in the pre75 front roll pan that would be perfect for an IC opening. I know the bumpers can be adapted, not sure on the roll pan.

If I were in your shoes i would either cut 4 smaller openings to simulate the A duct and not look like a huge gaping hole in the bumper, OR I would cut the hole big enough for a replica a-duct and paint the whole thing (bumper and all) semi-gloss black. Either way I would keep the sleeper look by painting the FMIC flat black.

You can also trim out the rough edges of where you cut the bumper with door guard edging. It can be picked up in "chrome like" finish at any auto parts store and will at least make the cut out look finished. Dont forget to touch up the edges of the cuts with some rust preventative paint. just a little touch up bottle with the nail brush inside would work fine.

Rear end updates!

Over the weekend my father and I cut and transferred all of the rear end brackets, mocked it up in the car, painted it, and also burped the cooling system.

With the new rear in we saw that the track bar rubbed on the rear cover

solution..... bend it haha

Fits like it was made to be in there...

spring mount weld... should be strong enough
