here are good pics for anyone wondering which resistor to clip.

doc, great job shipping my maftpro so quick, but i believe i dont have the most recent update with it. does mine come with provisions for the zt2 and timing monitor, or do i have to download something for it? if i do, do you have a writeup on how to download while the unit is out of the car?

Heya DrJonez, I wonder if the MAFT-Pro can do what would norally be the VF
meter too, that would be a pretty cool feature, to see how the car is running
acording to the computer.

Jeff

sure can. instructions from mkiiitech.com....

Vf logging:
-set Aux1 mode to 0
-connect purple wire to Vf

just a note to those using the timing monitor- after setting it up, you'll need connect a timing light @ idle and adjust Tm Base to match up the MAFT pro's timing reading and the reading on your timing light. it may be a good idea to take some readings at higher RPM as well and use Tm Correct to correct any differences seen in the high RPM.

Why do we need clipping that resistor for again? I can't find any relevant posts before yours and the one that came with no pics in but still I don't understand what this tip is for  :dunno:

it is the afm input pull-up resistor. you dont need it anymore to monitor timing.

yup.

note that you must be running speed/density to monitor timing (you're using the AFM input to monitor timing...).

Ok let me get this straight cause although I've been checking this thread very often and carefully this seems to be an issue that just jumped out of nowhere. So, in order to use timimg monitoring on the maft pro we need to clip a resistor? I thought that was a mere software matter...

thanks for the link doc, do you know if the Maftpro you sent me already has the latest update(version 4.4), or should i download the latest version to be safe?

how is this an issue? it has not jumped out of no where. clipping the resistor is NOT difficult....

yes, in order to use the timing monitor you will need to clip the resistor.

Well I guess "issue" is a heavy term and might have sounded more serious that intended. What I'm saying is that the resistor clipping was not mentioned untill now thus it came out of nowhere. And while we had been talking about the timing monitor function no one mentioned that the maft pro transistor was to be modified in order to work that's why I was under the impression that it was just a case of software update. No big deal. All I said was that it wasn't discussed up until now and the resistor clipping detail was not mentioned before...thus...surprise :icon_conf

Ahh, that's the part I missed.
I thought I had read all the directions, but I missed that. Thanks.
