Whoa.... :evil2:

Okay, I got everything up and running today... see "fully installed". I took the car for a brief "spirited drive". Wow. The responsiveness is great! This beats the living hell out of all those little tweaks that are oh so tauted among the N/A crowd. Keep in mind that I've been driving with an AFM which wasn't completely sound, that may have skewed my recollections of how a good stock AFM felt.

There are some low areas where I don't think there should be. Eventually, I'll get a WB so I can fix that, it's just nothing I can afford right now. Perhaps I can make some adjustments using a datalog for the time being.

Once I get that final software adjustment from Bob I'll post a full writeup in the N/A section.

Yo.......

change the "TPRO480.S19" in the .bat file to "TPRO484.S19"

Set F Out mode to "Fuel Pump Control"......

+12 ----- (Relay Coil) -------- Green Wire on 10 pin Connector

:)

Sounds perfect, once things warm up a little around here I'll finish this off and let you know how it works out.

To enable timing monitoring do I just need to remove the pull up resistor?

I was informed that timing control on the N/A is going be different than the setup for the GTE. How does it need to be wired?

Dr. Jonez mentioned it being different. The N/As have a distributor, the advance is still controlled by the ECU's signal to the ignitor though... so I don't know how different.

To enable timing monitoring, do I just need to remove the pullup resistor like on the turbo install?

You will probably need to clip the resistor, to keep the Pro from interfering with the signals its trying to monitor.

The timing monitor works by measuring the time difference between the Cam sensor signal (you connect the yellow wire here) and the IGt signal (white wire connected here). My concern is that the cam sensor signal may not be the same..... (might take a software tweak...)

Ah, okay... we'll need to find that out for timing control as well I assume? I'm not sure which line on the distributor's harness provides the cam (or perhaps just rotor position). I'll look into it. If Dr.Jonez has some idea hopefully he'll speak up. :naughty:

the GE uses a distributor to actuate, but has similar signals:

Sorry for waking up a 5 year old thread, but I have a stock NA 7mge and I'm very interested in doing this. With my experience with megasquirt, I think I could do this without too much trouble.

I have been reading a lot about this and most of the info is with regards to the 7mgte, so I have searched. Info for NA's is harder to come by.

Just so I'm clear on what exactly this mod is:

Replace the stock AFM with a GM LS1 MAF (or similar style/size MAF) and this is then wired to a MAFT Pro translator which translates the signal from the MAF to output the proper signal to the stock ecu (which will be the same type of signal if would normally receive from the stock AFM). Is this correct?

A 3.5" MAF seems like it might be over kill for an NA. (something in the 3" dia range should be fine as well I would think). Any body else done this and what were the results? Will any MAF of appropriate diameter work?

Thanks.

thats the basic idea. On lots of cars, there is a connection on the AFM that activates the fuel pump. The pro can handle this also, but may need a relay depending on the vehicle configuration.

Having the pro then gives you datalogging capability along with the tuning functions.

Thanks for the info.

I actually have decided to go full Megasquirt as I just realized I already have a 90% assembled MSII and innovate MTX-L sitting here which I was going to use in my civic, which is now gone.

So MS it is which has on-board MAP. So no more AFM or MAF and I gain full tuning capability!!! :)
