Honestly, I haven't decided. Odds are VERY good this will be a one-time deal. :) That's why I've given everyone a heads up on this happening.

Doward: if you have the info, you can do small production runs like have been done with the hatch shades...

As PBR has made calipers for damn near everything, I bet Hawk has pads for these...

What would be the point in that? The stock calipers will overheat the stock rotors under heavy use, without too much problem.

The idea with bigger rotors, is that you have more metal, so it takes longer to heat up (and cools off quicker)

*edit* This was for the post before yours, poodles.

Yeah, stock brakes are lacking, not enough mass to keep the heat out of the brake fluid IMHO...

I like my wheels a lot, but I have ZERO clearance between the caliper and the hoop of the wheel, would be cool to get a thicker rotor and larger caliper, but I doubt I'll be able to keep these wheels in the long run...

Ok, I've got one verbal quote so far, I'm just waiting to hear back from some of the other places I've contacted (trying to get the best deal here for everyone, lol)

So far, the brackets + rings look like they will be around $260 + s/h (which will be a flat $12)

Obviously, if I can get some lower quotes, I'll be passing the savings along. Also, this quote is literally just for my 2 brackets + rings (one off for my own vehicle) - according to the first place, I need 10 kits to kick down to a lower price point (around $230), and then 25 kits to kick down again (around $210).

The rotors will cost you around $85 for both at your local auto parts store, and the calipers around $300.

So is anyone in the market for 13" OEM quality front brakes for around $650? ;)

*edit* The more I think about it, the more I think I'm going to offer this either way. I will be happy to get all the parts together to make this a 100% add-on kit (understand there will be a little something extra for my time involved, lol) - or, once the brackets are done and this group buy OFFICIALLY opens, I'll release all the part numbers I used for the rotors + calipers.

*edit2* Almost forgot - I need to build stainless steel brake hoses. The location of the brake banjo bolt denies using the stock hose in the stock hose bracket (I think, I'll double check)

The dust plate DOES need trimming.

s000pra89T, no - my car is currently offline. I do, however, have a local guy that might be getting a set UNDER COST if he agrees to let me test the system on his car...

Doward,

I would like to buy the rings and brackets, I can't pay for the whole kit at one time right now with both of my kids birthdays coming up and the holidays. Also Have you thought about the kit that I emailed you? The Mach 1 not Cobra.

Also I have a hydraulic shop that I can stainless or regular braided lines made at cost. LMK if I can help.

I'm going to work out the brake hose situation tomorrow - but I might get back to you on that, frontier ;)

I can't guarantee the Mach 1 calipers would work. I'm still waiting to hear back from PBR on exactly what application the part number calipers I'm using are from :)

The GB will probably open up tomorrow (lol, people are beating my door down here) and will most likely stay open until the end of November. I'm hoping some of the shops (Driftmotion, Kaizen, 935, etc) will buy up some of these to help out you guys that can't get into the group buy right now. You guys would probably have to let them know that you want them, though!

I shot off a PM to JetJock. Maybe he can shed some light on how the ABS electronics work :)

Especially considering I don't have that ABS tester the TSRM calls for :(

looks like the 13" cobra brakes to me. A good friend of mine just installed them on his mustang GT and they perform quite incredibly, especially with the hawk race pads he has. If these things work on a mk3 anything like his do on that blue oval...you guys are going to freak out.

look what sticky tires and these brakes do to a stock suspension!

Ummm, I may have to buy a set of brackets and rings. I can get the rest of the parts at manufacturer cost through my step-dad. I've been wanting to do a brake upgrade but have been wary of buying a full kit. I like this idea of using OEM parts that can be bought anywhere. Very, very smart idea Doward. :D
