....So to all the guys that are brake savvy and know all the technical ins & outs of braking.....my comparison question is:
How do these brakes compare to say, the Nissan 4-pots? AKA:Nightpager. Performance and cost.
And I ask that because of the positive comments from a trusted member here, BIC who has nothing but praise for the Nightpager setup. This is a straight-up question and not intended to 'trigger' anyone to flame!!
Also, I too am very interested in this as I want/need to have my brakes improved! Thanks.
Cost:
Brackets + Hubs should be VERY similar in cost (I'm seeing the nightpager brackets go for around $250 / set, and I'm trying to hit that price point, AND INCLUDE the hubcentric rings!)
Rotors: The rotors for my kit are ~$40 @ Autozone. I don't know how much (or even if you can get) the Brembo 12.6" rotors for the 350z.
That's another point - The Nightpager kit uses 12.6" rotors, my kit uses 13" rotors.
Calipers: The calipers for my kit are around $300 for both including caliper brackets. How much are the Nissan calipers for the Nightpager kit? Again, I don't know.
My kit uses PBR dual piston full floating calipers. I'm hoping to hear back from PBR tomorrow, but it appears these calipers/rotors are identical to the calipers/rotors used in the 2003 SVT Cobra. THIS IS UNCONFIRMED STILL - that said, the '03 Cobra goes from 60-0 in ~124 feet. In a 3700+ lbs car. With 11.65" rear brakes (ours are 11.45", IIRC).
The single biggest thing in my opinion, over the Nightpager kit, is that I use the entire freaking pad. None of this 'uses 80% of the pad' BS.
Cliff notes:
Bigger rotors, bigger pads, full contact patch, shooting for the same price. Draw your own conclusions
