Little status update ;)

Went to re-assemble the front hub, and it appears I may have done a little damage to the threads on the hub itself. :3d_frown: Very likely from me getting pissed and forcibly un-staking the spindle nut with a crowbar and a 5 lbs sledge.

I'll be taking a file to it a little later and seeing if I can clean the threads (visual inspection shows the thread damage is localized right around the slot on the hub)

SO - once that is done, I'll bolt everything up and get some pics/video of everything.

But first, I have a computer to go pick up and fix ;)

Calipers are mounted - this is a good looking setup, imho! Fucking clean, and OEM looking. I love it ;)

That said, I'm uploading a video of it all right now to youtube. I'll post the video in post #1 when the upload completes.

Video posted - just need to wait for YouTube's processing. I'm heading out to help 7MBoost on his Supra now (and I'll show him the raw footage ;))

100 fucking percent. And you can quote me on that! None of this nancy bullshit 80%, or being 2mm off, of any of that bullshit.

I'm uploading a video of the clearances around the face of a MKIV wheel now.

Anybody want me to do a comparison of weights, stock vs these (calipers + brackets)?

*edit* Let me back up my previous statement with my old friend PROOF:

A weight comparison is always welcomed!

hah - for anyone not understand what IJ is saying - PBR is based in Australia. They make a large majority of the high performance OEM brake systems ;)

First post updated with caliper and bracket weights.

Tomorrow I'll finish the CAD designing of the bracket / ring, and Monday I'll start calling for pricing.

This is great work Doward!!

Question though, that was a MK4 TT rear wheel that you have on the fronts in the last video, now with the TT fronts they are 1.5 inches smaller in width, do you think they clear? I think one thing that might hurt is they are +50 offset as well. Let us know how they go!

Ok, I was thinking the MKIV wheels are 50mm offset in the front, and 35mm in the back. As long as the offset is the same, though, it will make no difference (50mm offset is 50mm offset, no matter the width of the wheel)

Cool, I have +35 in the front so It should be fine. 17x8 +35 I know that they fit with the ARZ kit, I have the same wheels in their pics.

Woah woah woah. I'm definitely interested in the bracket plus ring kit, but had to interject here. Offset has nothing to do with brake clearance because the offset is the measure between the centerline of the wheel and the mounting surface of the face. Brake clearance is the distance from the mounting surface and the actual face of the wheel (commonly referred to as pad or simply brake clearance). You can have a high offset low pad wheel just like you can have a low offset high pad wheel. You won't know unless you measure, and offset plays zero role in this.

In regards to fender and/or shock clearance, the width definitely plays a factor -- since offset is just a relative point to the centerline, and clearing the fender or the shock still depends on the overall width of the wheel. If your rotor has more thickness than the stock rotor, then it is the equivalent to adding a spacer, which effectively lowers the offset (pushing the wheel closer to the fender).
