Thanks guys. It's a bit scary when I start totaling up the $ it is costing. I bought a bunch of lighting today on an auction. A cabinet shop was going out of business so I bid on some florescent lighting that should be more than enough to light her up well. BTW, we will be having 2 parties. First and insulation party after ceiling is installed, and then a hanging steel party. Not going with sheet rock. Steel was much less expensive and it is washable.

The best part is we added a bunch of sand to all the planned high traffic areas! So it shouldn't wear too badly at all.

Very good choice- if you get that floor wet (oil coolant, water, anything!) and you're eating your teeth in seconds. ...like at my work :nono:
Be careful!

Progress report: Saturday the guys worked and are close to completing the vinyl siding. Just one wall left. On Saturday I picked up the lighting and fans I was able to win. They should provide more than enough light. I got 7 fixtures with 6 florescent bulb spots in each. These sell for over $240 at Grainger apiece. These are backed by a very bright backing. Also at least 6, 8 ft long dual bulb fixtures with a pile of replacement lights and a bunch of 4 ft fixtures, again with bulbs. I also ordered the inner steel siding. It will be off white, will be using it on walls and ceiling. It was actually cheaper than the sheet rock estimate. Lastly, the insulation will be delivered tomorrow. Sean will be hanging it in the walls starting tomorrow and applying the plastic vapor barrier. One more thing, I also bought off Craigslist, 400 ft of high pressure 3/4 inch PVC piping fore the air system. We will have multiple hookups inside and out side the shop.

Mike, latest on 2jz is that I have this engine noise that I am concerned about. Since we just changed rod and crank bearings, some realistic fear something may be amiss. Good news is that Steve (toyantos) and my frined Iner (worlds greatest old school mechanic) think the sound is cam chatter and tonight Sean will be pulling off intake cam cover to check tolerneces etc. I am happy that it doenst appear to be big time serious. Not going to be able to go to trak unless we can get it corrected by then. Believe me I am ready to break into low 11's.

Mike, we pulled valve cover. No obvious source yet. Sean thinks the noise is transmitted from down low. We also think we see some real fine metal in the oil. With all the garage work going on, not enough time to dig into it. Hopefully next week we can check clearances. If it is the bearings, I am pulling engine and sending her in for a complete rebuild. Rods, pistons and a rebore. It will be done at Sounds Performance's machine shop. Still hoping it is something simple, having my doubts.

I haven't posted for a bit. Been crazy busy at work. I finally got Sean to look carefully at the 2JZ. He found the front crank bolt loose. Tightened her up and the worrisome noise is history. I have a new crank bolt at the dealer ship that will be installed. We took her for a ride. She runs good 95% of the time. Goood enough to do one short pull against a WRX. I am going to have to check out my fuel filter, if that is OK, may need to look at the plugs.

Latest on garage. #1, I am running out of money quickly. The boys are finally working on the steel. Tomorrow the ceiling will be done, the walls should go pretty quick. Then electrical stuff. See latest photos of Sean screwing metal to the ceiling.

Mike, yes, he looked pretty confused until I told him to pretend it was his old girl friend. Now he does good but keeps falling asleep after he puts in each screw.

I am driving my car, in fact just came back from town. The kid with the GTR was on the other side of Division Street. I quick turned around but couldn't find him. I saw him at the track. If my 2jz is running correctly, I will pull on him. He was in low 12's. If all goes well as in, get exhaust leak fixed, and put my cooling issue to rest, I still plan on taking her to the track in 2 weeks.

Hopefully, mid 11's better if I am lucky. Bring her on!

Emilio, your welcome to come out anytime. With luck we will have her ready before freeze up. It is a lot bigger than the old garage, a lot nicer and a lot better planned out. Lastly it is a lot more expensive.
