Small progress updates.
Depinning JDM folding mirrors to dismantle for paint. Was lucky enough to buy some bases from Hybrid which he had re-done in fibreglass. Shouldn't have to worry about the soft plastic / peeling paint problem these all have.
Back at work so finding time is a struggle. I did manage to prep wipers for paint, will be satin black just like yours Silver MK3. Probably not as good though, mine were pretty crusty.

This car has a lot of KM on the chassis and the door hinges had seen better days. Initially I planned to replace with new. Got a quote from Toyota Australia for $100 EACH and not all were available.
So I decided to try and repin a set. Bought some spares, and a brass bush kit from an Isuzu truck off ebay (it's all Japanese, how different can they be.. right?). Anyway long story short, I quickly discovered that the factory hinges came with brass or bronze bushes, with very tight tolerances. I have a lathe but this is looking like a time consuming exercise. Going to just source new hinges, if I can.

I'm not sure if you can source SEM paint in Australia, but I've used it on multiple sets of wipers, cowls, grilles, and other various trim parts and it always comes out good. Good luck finding new door hinges, some parts are starting to get hard to find for these cars as they age...
It has been raining here. Want the paint to harden up properly, so I haven't finished the wipers yet. 37 deg C forecast tomorrow, so will take care of that.

I did this on my silver MA70 and it was a horrible job I vowed never to do again. But here we go... When finished they should look like this

I like the shaved trims, makes the car look cleaner
I remember seeing an 86 with the trims painted body color and it looked pretty much the same and I liked the look
I think I remember you posting the pics back when you did that to the silver car on a forum somewhere
What are you leaning towards for the leather color, perhaps a match for the factory leather color with the deep red interior?

Thanks I liked the clean lines on the silver car. Hopefully white looks similar. Yes posted here and on sf.au a long time ago.
I've saved 100% of the original JZA70 trim pieces, including tail light centre piece. Can swap back if needs be. Thanks Hybrid for the blue trims I still feel bad sanding them knowing how much work went into them back in the day.
Plan is for leather to match 'deep red' and look OEM in keeping with build goals.
